DOWN ROYAL: SHAMROCK has an early nap in the opener at 1.15 on what could turn out to be a good day for Gordon Elliott.
Gordon Elliott looks to have a few good chances on today’s Down Royal Card with three runners trading at around the 1.8 level.
He should make the perfect start in the opening two and a half mile maiden hurdle at 1.15 with Steamboat Bill who takes a drop in class.
The five-year-old ran fourth of 25 behind Edwulf in what looked a better event at Naas last time out and had previously run well here over the two mile trip to take third to Conright Boy.
Biggest danger could come from the mare Billy Billy who impressed on debut in a bumper at Carlisle and then was a fair third on hurdling debut to Myztique (also trained by Elliott).
On balance though, Steamnboat Bill looks the one most likely to revel in the testing conditions over this trip.
