CADET TO ROCKET HOME AT LAST: SHAMROCK heads to Fairyhouse on Wednesday with his best bet running in the maiden hurdle at 2.25pm.
Space Cadet has proved an expensive project for punters so far with three consecutive seconds at 2/1, 13/8 and 4/5 last time out. He has progressively been sent off at shorter odds but is still without a first win over hurdles.
He certainly bumped into a good one when second to Up For Review over course and distance in November. The Willie Mullins trained winner went on to win just as impressively over three miles at Punchestown in a Grade 2.
It was a little disappointing, at face value, that Acapella Bourgeois was good enough to beat Space Cadet last time out at Leopardstown given that Space Cadet had beaten that rival into third in the Fairyhouse C&D race referred to above. However, Acapella Bourgeois was making his debut that day and looks to have improved significantly for the run.
Burgas makes his debut for Willie Mullins today and this French import could prove the danger. His races in France weren’t exceptional by any means but he follows a well-trodden successful path of joining Willie Mullins after a couple of starts in France.
Uaintseenothingyet improved on his Fairyhouse debut to finish third at Naas over two miles but I’m not not convinced the step-up in distance will suit.
