THREE WINS IN A ROW AT GALWAY: After a 16/1 NEXT BEST on the opening day of Galway, SHAMROCK landed three BETDAQ wins in a row on the second day.
I played at shorter odds yesterday but found three wins in a row, including the nap, Eziyra, who was hammered down to a starting price of 2/5 and the lay on Briar Hill which looked fortunate as he was only pipped by a head on his chasing debut by 66/1 chance Talk The Lingo.
Eight races today including the Galway Plate at 5.30. Bets in four races for me today:
3:00 Tote Maiden Hurdle (5yo+, 2m 110y, 11 runners)
Incredible that Silver Concorde remains a maiden over hurdles given the class he has on the flat and the fact he was good enough to win a Cheltenham Champion Bumper. He’s met with some short odds defeats over hurdles too and I prefer a place bet on Gone Platinum at around evens on BETDAQ as opposed to Silver Concorde at 1.44 on the win market.
3:35 Tote E.B.F. Mares Handicap Hurdle (4yo+, 2m 110y, 21 runners)
Elusive Ivy ticks plenty of boxes in a wide open contest. The top weight arrives here on the back of a win at Punchestown where today’s 7lb conditional was also onboard and the Cromwell stable are in pretty good form.
4:45 Tote (Q.R.) Maiden (3yo+, 1m 4f 43y, 9 runners)
A Shin Kildare looks the days banker for the Dermot Weld ‘standing order’. The three-year-old was sent off 7/4 favourite for her debut at the Curragh and didn’t shape badly in third. Further improvement looks highly likely.

Last year’s winner Shanahan’s Turn is back for more but hasn’t shown much in two starts this year. Shantou Flyer is a speculative play following on from his narrow defeat in the Down Royal trial for this. He was a winner at this meeting last year.
