NEW LOOK TO GALWAY PLATE: The Galway Plate has a new look to it after it was announced that the original favourite Galvin misses the race due to a bruised foot.
Original favourite for the Galway Plate Galvin was pulled out this afternoon due to a bruised foot which will presumably mean he will also miss his intended engagement tomorrow in the Grade 3 novice chase.
Davy Russell now switches to The Storyteller with the new favourite Royal Rendezvous for Willie Mullins who now switches to handicaps and is the preference of Paul Townend.
At bigger prices though, a better option might be the Joseph O’Brien trained Early Doors who has cheekpieces fitted for the first time and is also racing in handicap company for the first time. Last year he won the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival – so shouldn’t be troubled by the hustle and bustle of a big field.
Willie Mullins has two big chances later in the card and I’ll take a chance with his debutant Zuma Rock in the closing bumper. She has an interesting pedigree and the ones that have run haven’t shown much so far.
