HAPPY TO GET STAKES BACK: SHAMROCK’s NAP was withdrawn at the start yesterday after failing to go behind the stalls. But in the end that was an outcome that SHAMROCK didn’t mind.
In the end I’ll quite happily settle for getting my money back and I suspect most punters will think the same thing.
Il Palazzao seemed in no mood for racing last night. After giving endless chances by a patient starter it was obvious she wasn’t wanting to race and if she had gone into the stalls I would have been worred those pre-race antics would have affected her performance.
So the run of winning naps remains:
9 July RALLY (NAP) WON 6/4
10 July THE VATICAN (NAP) WON 11/4
11 July AL DESTOOR (NAP) 2nd
12 July HEIRLOOM (NAP) WON 9/10
13 July ABBAKOVA (NAP) 2nd
14 July SEA SIREN (NAP) WON 5/4
15 July BLUEBELL (LAY NAP) WINNER
It’s another Killarney mixed card to look forward to this evening.
In the opener I am napping flat debutant Lagan Canal. I don’t normally nap newcomers but it’s a 1m 6f flat race and Lagan Canal has already won two bumpers on good to firm ground and should relish conditions this evening.
The favourite is Royal Irish Hussar who didn’t show an awful lot on debut at Gowran Park and even allowing for being better for the run and a step-up in trip it’s a leap of faith to think he will be good enough to win this second time out.
