SHAMROCK STAYS LOYAL AT NAAS: Bilderberg landed a winning nap for him at Fairyhouse last time out and he keeps faith with the Ger Lyons trained filly at Naas this evening.
I’m not one for following a horse out of blind loyalty, even though it did me a good turn last time out.
I try and take the view that every race is a unique set of runners and conditions and you have to start from scratch each time.
I was very keen on Bilderberg last time out at Fairyhouse on the strength of her debut second to Sparrow at the Curragh back in October. Sparrow has gone on to be placed in a Group 3.
The only issue for me at Fairyhouse (on 2nd July) was the length of absence but the market signs on BETDAQ were positive and she won in fine style, taking up the running a furlong out and staying on well to beat perennial maiden Monsieur Power by four lengths over today’s six furlong trip.
After the withdrawal of Calibrate she now has just two rivals in the 6.30 race but should be able to beat her more experienced opponents and, as 1.81 shots go, I don’t think this is a bad price at all respective to her chance in the race.
Yulong Baoju takes a drop in class having contested a competitive handicap at the Curragh last time out but has to give weight away and although Colour Blue is consistent both her wins have come over longer trips.
