SHAMROCK AT NAAS: Listed action at Naas tonight with the Naas Oaks Trial at 7.30. Aidan O’Brien has three of the 10 runners declared.
No joy with the NAP on Tuesday – but money back with the other bet when Cassells Rock was a non runner.
Aidan O’Brien runs three in the Naas Oaks Trial tonight and his best fancied runner (ridden by Joseph) is Palace who never really got competitive in the Epsom Oaks. She started a 16/1 chance for that race and finished seventh.
I would have concerns about her again tonight. Although this a drop in class for her it’s worth pointing out that she has only won one of her five starts and that came in her maiden race at Navan and crucially on soft ground.
The ground at Naas this evening is good to firm and firm in places.
Carla Bianca is a much safer proposition, certainly in terms of the ground.
The grey finished a three quarter length second to Australia (no less) on her debut at the Curragh on good to firm ground and then finally lost her maiden tag at Navan last time out when bolting home by five lengths.
Dermot Weld’s filly can progress up the grades to take this and can stake a claim for the Oaks itself.
Aidan and Joseph O’Brien should land the final race on the card with Shell House who was fourth in the maiden won by Carla Bianca mentioned earlier.
Clearly a good run for Carla Bianca will boost the claims of Shell House further but there has been plenty of support for Shell House already in the BETDAQ market.
