NON STOPPING SERVICE FOR VAUTOUR: It looks increasingly likely that Vautour will head straight to the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup after he misses weekend possibilities at Newbury and Gowran Park.
An update on Vautour after yesterday’s report. In the end he hasn’t been entered for either of the potential races both sides of the Irish Sea he was pencilled in for.
Willie Mullins says he was ‘very happy with him’ after a workout yesterday but it looks increasingly likely he will head for the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup for which he is trading at 5.6 on BETDAQ – second favourite behind Don Cossack.
Mullins added: “I’ll make up my mind where to go with him next.”
Vautour had Saturday options to run in the Denman Chase at Newbury (now no Irish representation) or the Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park for which Mullins has Ballycasey and Mozoltov entered amongst the six-strong five-day field.
Saturday also sees the Red Mills Trial Hurdle (Grade 2) at Gowran Park and this looks at the mercy of the Willie Mullins trained Sempre Medici who didn’t have to come out of second gear to win the Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas last time out.
Today’s racing at Limerick was cancelled earlier in the week. Racing resumes in Ireland at Thurles on Thursday.
