SHAMROCK AT DUNDALK: SHAMROCK heads to the evening floodlit card at Dundalk for his best bet of the day.
It looks a tricky punting card at Dundalk tonight, or perhaps I should say even trickier than usual.
The opening three maidens on the card all feature shortish price favourites but the most solid proposition looks to be Maira in the seven furlong opener at 6.10.
She is trading around 2.2 on BETDAQ at the time of writing having finished a good course and distance second last time out to Orcia despite being hampered in the closing stages.
Orcia went on to finish second to Smuggler’s Cove in a Listed race here, although beaten seven lengths behind the impressive winner, Smuggler’s Cove went on to finish third to Belardo in the Dewhurst Stakes.
So, however you interpret that form, you have to say Maira’s chance looks very good in the context of a Dundalk maiden. In my view, she should be odds-on – so we’re into bonus territory in terms of the price.
