DESTINATION WEXFORD: SHAMROCK looks at the evening card at Wexford tonight with a recommended NAP in the closing bumper at 9pm.
I started off trying to find a winner in the opening maiden hurdle at Wexford and quickly drew stumps on the basis that none of them looked good enough to win a race !!! Obviously something has to win but the race looks ripe for an outsider as it really does look a lottery.
A safer punting proposition on the card might well be Major Destination in the closing bumper. The Noel Meade trained runner has comfortably the best form on offer and the three newcomers are all big prices in the BETDAQ market.
Major Destination was narrowly beaten on his point to point debut and was sent off favourite for his debut under Rules at Kilbeggan. He was beaten four lengths into third and will be suited by the better ground and half mile further trip tonight.
Meade is running at a strike-rate of 50% over the last seven days (3 from 6) and Major Destination really does look worth waiting for – anything over evens is a standout in my view as I rate him a 2/5 chance.
The Denis Hogan trained Bensachuine looks the danger on form but he is now eight without a win and there’s no strong reason for thinking that the extra half mile will bring about a change in fortunes.
