OPENING DAY OF YORK: And an Aidan O’Brien trained runner looks vastly overpriced on BETDAQ according to SHAMROCK.
Two runners for Aidan O’Brien on the opening day of York with both looking to have tough tasks – according to the betting at least.
Dick Whittington runs in the Group 2 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes at 3.15 and he will need to do a lot better than he did on reappearance in a Group 3 at the Curragh when beating just two rivals home.
But there are good reasons for thinking he might well leave that form behind.
The ground was soft at the Curragh and he has shown all his better form on a quicker surface. The drop back to six furlongs today should also be considered a positive.
He was a Group 1 winner as a two-year-old and BETDAQ odds of 17.5 look a little insulting to his chances and I am certainly all over the 5 at the time of writing about him hitting a place spot under Ryan Moore.
A sporting win and place nap for me.
In summary. An Aidan O’Brien trained, Ryan Moore ridden, Group 1 winner in a Group 2 back on the ground and trip he likes at 16/1. You CANNOT be serious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m less sure about Best In The World for Aidan O’Brien in the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at 3.45pm.
What a name she has to live up to (!!) but she disappointed first time out this season when a well beaten fourth at Navan.
Again, the better ground will be a key factor but John Gosden’s So Mi Dar looks a real tough nut to crack and assuming she fills one of the two places it doesn’t make it the ideal place betting race with it being a seven runner field.
