A bit of a mixed bag last week with winners and losers but an overall profit is all I ever ask for and you can rest assured that whatever tips I put out below are followed by cold hard cash of my own – I always put my money where my mouth is unlike some I could mention!

The weekend started bright and early with a Poole Master who bolted up for us at Newbury Friday afternoon and meant that I left work with a smile on my face as well as extra in the BETDAQ account. He was my one and only horse racing bet of the week, and although I tipped him at 3.1 I did get some 3.4 on BETDAQ lunchtime, which was a nice weekend bonus and made me smile!

As for the football, I love Everton but sometimes I hate them too (invariably when I put money on them), and they were all at sea against a rejuvenated Queens Park rangers managed by (you guessed it) Mark Hughes, himself an ex Everton player. That was one bet down, and more importantly a big dent to my Toffee pride but I was still smiling overall after Arsenal had come back against the odds (and against the run of play) to see off Liverpool at Anfield and land that bet at the very least. As my family had commandeered the television, I wandered to my local hostelry to watch that game but even with a beer in one hand and an I-Pad logged on to BETDAQ in the other, the odds did not swing in my favour early enough to get out with a guaranteed profit. Sometimes that can be a bad thing, but this time it worked in my favour as I did not get out and took all the profit, having found a red nose generous enough to let me have a few pounds on at 3.3 in the morning.

Sadly, my big priced golf tip may as well be stuck in a bunker still after a disappointing joint 30th but when you try the big priced options they will go wrong as well as right and we will soldier on regardless – a 125/1 place still eaves us plenty of profit in the golf pot to play with, and I intend to add to that as soon as the opportunity arises.

Moving on quickly, I know the horses are best left to DAQMAN who has forgotten more than I will ever know but it is Cheltenham next week and I cannot resist getting involved at the biggest “bestest” richest greatest race meeting on planet earth! I have been scouring the Internet for clues and have managed to cut it down to just about every horse in every race if you believe all you read, but there are a few that look good and worthy of my attention, and perhaps yours as well.

On Tuesday is seems Nicky Henderson is more tan just sweet on the chances of Sprinter Sacre in the Arkle chase, and who am I to argue? The decent prices have all long gone (and if memory serves we still have an ante post bet on him to play with), but he has clocked some exceptional times for any chaser let alone a novice on the bridle, and even at 2.1 or thereabouts with BETDAQ I have got to get involved.

Reading the Alan King interviews (and perusing his website on http://alankingracing.co.uk/news/news1.php ) it seems he feels this four-year-old grey is remarkably well handicapped ahead of the Fred Winter Novices’ Hurdle on Wednesday afternoon and he would have a better clue than most of us. He won on his British debut at Newbury despite slipping on landing after the last and is considered the stable banker from what I have read, and at 4.9 with BETDAQ you can count me in!

On Thursday I have read nothing whatsoever to suggest Peddlers Cross will win the Jewson but I have always felt he would be better over two and a half miles or more and think connections have been sensible in avoiding Sprinter Sacre. A brilliant hurdler, connections have always been positive about him improving over fences and if I have got Tuesday correct, there was no disgrace in finishing runner up to Nicky’s beast at Kempton. They felt he was not 100% that day either but if they can get him here in one piece he should have way too much class for these and at the BETDAQ odds of 4.7 that looks the best value of the week to me.

Although these will not be my only bets, if I have any winners earlier in the week some of my money will be going on to Balder Succes in the Triumph Hurdle. Again, you only have to read the Alan King interviews to see how highly he regards this ex French hurdler, who he sees as on a par with Grumeti who is at a shorter price. 9.5 looks solid each way value to me for an unbeaten hurdler who looks to have plenty of room for improvement and I would like to say I will lump on, but that may well depend on earlier results!

Changing sports briefly, and two small football bets can hopefully start the week with a profit, and Fulham at 3.4 away to Aston Villa is sorely tempting. Martin Jol’s team are scoring for fun of late with a 5-0 thrashing of Wolves last time out, and as the same cannot be said for the home team (two goals in their last four games), an away victory is a distinct possibility.

My other away bet (it seems where the value lies these days) has to be Blackburn away to Wolves in a real double header with the loser odds on for relegation. As an Everton fan I know all about Yakubu who is scoring for fun since he left us while Wolves are frankly in disarray and are rumoured to have been turned down by every manager they have approached since sacking Mick McCarthy, which hardly makes for a united and positive dressing room. The current BETDAQ price of 3.4 is a tempter and will round off my bets for this week.

This week’s suggested bets (odds correct at the time of writing):

1pt Win FULHAM to win at Aston Villa at BETDAQ odds of 3.4
