We welcome back THE BETDAQ PUNTER this week.

He looks back on his punting weekend on BETDAQ on a day-by-day basis – this is followed by his bets of the week….

This week he is recommending bets on the football, cricket and racing.

Friday

Preparing for the football on Saturday took a large chunk of my time, but we still had some horses to look at with BETDAQ value the name of my game. Fontwell caught my eye and after a run of places I was happy to lay Quaddick Lake at 2.1. Once again he managed to get beaten though to be fair, he only went under by a head, and only after making a hash of the last. With profit in the bank I had a good look at the other races both there and elsewhere, but came up empty handed – sometimes it’s best to go with your gut feeling and walk away with whatever you can grab.

Saturday

I am struggling to write my Saturday review through tears and they are not ones of joy! Another football accumulator went astray with ONE result going against us when Arsenal failed to beat Fulham despite a last minute penalty, France destroyed Australia at Rugby Union which I did not see coming, and Wales lost at home to Argentina at the same sport – it feels like I am living in an alternate universe! Fact is though that if there were such things as certainties then we would struggle to find those nice BETDAQ layers to take our bets, though I see this as less of a glass half full or glass half empty scenario as a “fill the glass up regardless”!

Sunday

Sat at home how could I resist a few bets on the football, and for a while I thought my punt on Spurs to win at Manchester City at odds of 6.3 on BETDAQ (in the end) was going to pay off big time, as they led 0-1 for 44 minutes but as we all know by now, it wasn’t to be. Mine wasn’t the biggest bet in the world to be fair, but by the time I added it to my Chelsea to beat Liverpool (2.2 on BETDAQ) it wasn’t the best of days, though a small win and place bet on Bounds And Leaps for the Michael Scudamore/Tom Scudamore combination paid dividends at odds of 5.3 the win and 2.3 the place with my beloved BETDAQ at Ffos Las, though to be fair it was a smaller bet than normal – always the way, or so it seems!

Monday

A quiet day by my usual standards with precious little worth betting on. I learnt a long time ago that betting on two flies crawling up a wall was not for me so I used the spare time to research the internet. To my surprise there are a zillion websites offering free ratings (well, for a trial period anyway), so I signed up to a few to see how they got on – are stopwatches and stats the real way forward? Time will tell and tomorrow could yet be the first day of the rest of my life, so watch out BETDAQ layers, here I come!

Tuesday

I have decided that the secret to profitable punting is not all about finding the winners, it’s about getting some added value with a bigger price and today BETDAQ made quite a difference to my account. I followed the advice of the ratings to the letter (though to small stakes), and came away quids in – for a change! 5/2 favourite (3.5) Master Milan took some of my money in the 3.00pm at Lingfield (4.0 on BETDAQ) but he hadn’t read the script before finishing fourth, though it was only money lent as my next bet was on Belle De Fontenay at Huntingdon -11.0 SP, but I nicked a little at 13.0 on BETDAQ, though I have to be totally honest and say the figures also gave Ruby Crown as joint top rated and he was only fifth so my “winner” was to half stakes which were already pretty small, though job done for the day!

Wednesday

Sometimes my constant search for value pays off and today was one of those days. It seems to me (rightly or wrongly) that there is rarely any value in backing England at anything, especially football, as the patriotic money makes for a lower price than they ought to be, and away to Sweden was not one to get involved in for me. I am far too patriotic to go against them either so no bets for me on the match, but at least I didn’t join the thousands of losers who thought our makeshift team would win. The racing was pretty quiet so I had a day’s BETDAQ break and searched the internet for info for the rest of the week instead.

Thursday

Happy days indeed and proof that sometimes a bit of research pays off big time. I found two different articles about a stable visit to meet Hunt Ball and his trainer, and in the small print was a mention of a bumper horse that had worked with the star chaser and was making his debut at Ludlow this afternoon. Big Casino wasn’t described as a good thing, but a little win and place at BETDAQ odds of (read it and weep) 58.0 the win and 11.0 the place, he paid out very nicely and I hope to add to that on Saturday (see below).

Conclusions:

Bet of the week – 58.0 the Win with BETDAQ on Big Casino (SP 34.0) is going to take a while to better, though like all punters, I only wish I had been a bit more adventurous with my staking!

Disaster of the week – Arsenal is a four-letter word in my house – they let me down for an accumulator AGAIN last weekend and cost me some easy money!

THIS WEEKEND…..

Looking ahead to my next fortune (OK, my first fortune), I am a glutton for punishment and will start with another football accumulator – they do come off sometimes and pay off pretty well when they do. Most of the big teams have what looks like an easy weekend with Manchester United (BETDAQ odds 1.55) away at goal shy Norwich, Manchester City (BETDAQ odds 1.3) at home to an out of sorts Aston Villa, and Chelsea looking to have the hardest task (BETDAQ odds 2.1) away to high flying West Bromwich Albion. I do think the three will all win and if we than add Crystal Palace at home to Derby (tough game that one but the BETDAQ odds of 2.2 are too tempting) and Watford at home to Wolves (BETDAQ odds 2.4), and we have a half sensible accumulator at odds of about 22.34, so fingers crossed we pull this one off.

Rugby were next on my list but having got my fingers burnt last weekend (how did Wales lose to Argentina, I ask you?), the odds on accumulator doesn’t look quite so tempting, which leads me on to the cricket. Again my thirst for punting knowledge will hopefully pay dividends as I have read that the pitch for the current India v England test is a certainty to crack up big time by day four at the latest. With so many spinners in the teams and a cracked pitch I would not even try to guess who will win (though as I write India seem in charge), but the draw does seem extremely unlikely and at BETDAQ odds of 2.51 this will be one of those rare occasions when I suggest a lay bet for a change, with the suggestion that you can get out with a profit whenever you see fit.

To round things off we have to go back to the horses and after the win of Big Casino on Thursday, it seems fair to say the Keiran Burke yard are in fine form. Hunt Ball is their stable star by some way, having progressed an amazing 88 pounds according to official ratings last season, and from what I have read, they think he has improved again! He has (allegedly) strengthened and grown with another summer behind him, and they think they have him fit enough to do himself justice in the Gold Cup on Saturday due off at 2.35pm. He jumps well overall, stays strongly enough, and although the likes of Grands Crus (pictured) are anything but pushovers, he is an each way price and worthy of a small bet to add to his previous success stories of last season.

This week’s suggested bets (all prices with BETDAQ and correct at the time of writing):

Weekend Football
1pt Win accumulator: Manchester United (1.55), Manchester City (1.3), Chelsea (2.1), Crystal Palace (2.2), and Watford (2.4) for a 22.34 accumulator.

International Cricket
India v England, First Test – Lay the draw at odds of about 2.51 with 2pts with the option to get out at a profit at any time you see fit.

Horse racing Saturday
1pt each way Hunt Ball Cheltenham at BETDAQ odds of 7.2 the win.
