THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s Big Bash League match between Adelaide Strikers v Sydney Thunder with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Sydney Thunder made headlines at the Big Bash last week against Adelaide Strikers, but it was for all the wrong reasons! They now have to face their fears quickly as they meet Adelaide Strikers again on Tuesday on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. The Thunder’s innings lasted just 5.5 overs last week as they were bowled out for just 15 which became the shortest completed innings in men’s T20 history. After Adelaide only posted 139/9, it actually looked like the Thunder were in a good position at the innings break!

All out for 15 is quite a remarkable score. The lowest in Big Bash history previously was 57 back in 2015, and then the lowest T20 score was 21 by Turkey against Czech Republic – obviously that’s a very low level and to be honest the amount of cricket fans that would have watched that game would have been very low compared to the Big Bash. After facing embarrassment like that, it’s probably best they meet Adelaide Strikers straight away. The score would have only been brought up if they played in a few weeks anyway.

For Adelaide Strikers, while bowling a side out for 15 is a world record you wouldn’t say they couldn’t improve in other areas. Their batting didn’t exactly go well, but they should benefit from having home advantage here – they started the tournament very strongly here. Obviously Thunder will be low on confidence, but they have the likes of Alex Hales, Rilee Rossouw and Alex Ross in their batting line-up and they don’t become bad players overnight.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’re back at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday, and this is the second game here. The first game was Adelaide post 184/6 before keeping Sydney Sixers down to 133/7. Sydney Sixers have an excellent recent record in the Big Bash, so that was an impressive performance. You generally want to bat first at Adelaide in all conditions. We usually get two types of wickets here – a very good for batting one and another that spins and is quite low and slow. I don’t think it’s a question what to do if you win the toss though – the team who bats first here usually gets the best use of conditions.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We landed our bet on Adelaide Strikers the other day at 2.02, but there’s been quite a dramatic change in the odds since then. Probably understandable after bowling out Thunder for just 15, but the 1.79 does feel a little short on the Strikers. Let’s be honest, all out for 15 was incredibly embarrassing but it’s a world record for a reason, and that reason is it doesn’t happen often. They still have top talent in their batting line-up and can go well here – hopefully they bat first. The Strikers batting didn’t exactly fire against the Thunder bowling either, so I’m going to have a small bet on the Thunder at 2.2.

The Edge Says:
One point win Sydney Thunder to beat Adelaide Strikers at 2.2 with Betdaq Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Just because the Thunder collapsed for 15, you wouldn’t say their batting can’t bounce back here. I wouldn’t just take them on blindly. Actually looking at the odds – I would be more happy to take on the Strikers batting because they look fairly weak on paper. I do feel the best edge will be supporting the team who bats first here, and I also feel that might be the thing that decides who wins here. It might give the Thunder the edge they need, and if it’s Strikers then they can put the Thunder back under the pump quickly chasing a reasonably big score.
