THE EDGE: The Edge previews the 2nd T20 between ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
England v Australia 2nd T20
MATCH OVERVIEW:
England and Australia are back in action on Betdaq Betting Exchange as the sides move to Cardiff on Friday. Australia took a 1-0 lead with a comfortable win on Wednesday, really highlighting that they come into this series in a much better place compared to England. T20 cricket moves quickly, but at the moment you’d have to say that this could be a very difficult month for England. They are without many of their best players – through scheduling and injury – but the reality is this is the start of a new T20 cycle, and England are doing the right thing in the long-term to go with young players.
Australia are in a similar position, they are going to replace David Warner at the top of the order after his T20 retirement. Matthew Short is approaching this series with his eye firmly on that spot. Although the media will over-react to the results of this series, the reality is both sides are trying things out. England definitely will have Buttler at the top of the order in their strongest XI, and they’ll have a stronger middle-order too. That area definitely looks a little weak for this series, and that’s probably an area to take on England in the market.
Whatever happens, it’s always entertaining when these two meet. The 1st T20 was a cracking game with both sides bowled out – Australia’s bowlers were marginally better headed by Hazlewood and Zampa. Also, I do expect England to improve as the series goes on. Australia played three T20’s in Scotland and while the opposition was a little weak, England’s white ball players were just watching the Sri Lanka Test series.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The weather is always a slight worry in Cardiff, but the forecast is for no rain on Friday which is brilliant – it will definitely be on the colder side when the game starts though! We’ve had a range of scores in domestic cricket at Cardiff this week – the T20 Blast finished with a massive score of 243/4 but then scores were low at the Hundred. There’s so many wickets, you can get a range of conditions here – it’s usually pretty flat or you get plenty of spin. We haven’t had an International T20 here since 2022, and South Africa scored 207/3 to win by 58 runs. I think you win the toss and bat first here.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Even though I do expect a bit of improvement from England as the series goes on, Australia looked the better side on Wednesday. I’m very happy to back them again here at 1.68 – I feel their bowling is marginally better and that will count with the straight boundaries so short at Cardiff. Also, their batting looks in a much better place too – the openers look in good touch, and then the middle order looks much stronger than England. The 1.68 is a confident bet in my opinion.
The Edge Says:
Three points win Australia to beat England at 1.68 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
While I feel the 1.68 offers a lot of value on Australia, I also feel that batting first will give either side a little edge. I think England need a little help too; their middle order looks weak in my opinion, and I’m very happy to take them on again. As I said above, we can get a range of batting conditions at Cardiff but given they get so little International cricket here I would be surprised if the groundmen didn’t roll out a very good batting surface – obviously watch the first few overs to confirm that, but I’d expect a reasonably high scoring game. The most market movement might come supporting the Australian batting, or taking on the English middle order.
