ENGLAND v PAKISTAN T20: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the first T20 clash between ENGLAND v PAKITSAN on Friday with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
The Edge has been a professional cricket trader for over 12 years, and we are delighted to have his columns on BETDAQ Tips. He provides his best bets on a points scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being a rare max bet.
Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
After two boring draws in Test cricket, we switch to fast and furious action of T20 as England host Pakistan in the 1st T20 on Friday. We move back to Old Trafford Manchester which is excellent news! We had a thrilling Test match here before moving to Southampton where we only saw five innings over the two Tests. That bad light situation could easily change the laws of cricket; it was that much of a farce!
With the Tests out of the way, the Pakistan players can relax and express themselves here. We have seen that England have been on top as they won the first Test from very a difficult position while they looked like the only team that could win the last two – although we didn’t see much cricket. This is a whole new England side though, and it’s an England side that lost their last ODI to Ireland.
That loss to Ireland has to be a huge worry. In the first two ODI’s Ireland were very poor but when they batting fired, England looked out of options very quickly. Pakistan have shown that they don’t like the moving ball in England (what touring side does!) however that should be less of a concern here and they did play very well on the Old Trafford pitch. They basically had the first Test won only for an excellent partnership from Buttler and Woakes. This will be a very good test for a young England side.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The rain has ruined the last two Tests, and we have a dodgy forecast here too. Friday in Manchester looks like a cloud day with showers. How much of an impact those showers will have on the game; we will just have to wait and see. At least with this being a T20 we have the option of a five over game and at the moment I am reasonably hopeful we won’t see enough rain to stop there being a game.
The pitch at Old Trafford has looked pretty slow this season and generally a little tough for batting. The games here have been excellent to be honest, with something in the pitch for the bowlers while being good for shot making when you can get in. There shouldn’t be any excuses.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Pakistan’s batting in the last two Test matches would have to be a worry, but as we move into a different format of the game I feel they are worth backing here at 2.5. That price is simply too big for a side who love T20 cricket against a young England side. England have a very good batting line-up though with Morgan, Ali, Bairstow and co in the squad.
England are favourites and they should be, but I feel that they are too short and Pakistan are worth backing at 2.5 from a value point of view. England bowling is a big worry and the Old Trafford wicket should suit Pakistan. There is a chance we get a shortened game and a five over hit should bring the odds to 2.0 either side to be honest given we have two quality sides.
The Edge Says:
One point win Pakistan to beat England at 2.5 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
A massive part of the trading strategy for this game will be the weather. You’ll just have to keep an eye on the radar as to what happens or how many overs we lose. The forecast is for showers, so might not even lose any time at all. I would certainly favour the chasing side in a reduced game with a wet ball. A five over game is basically a 50/50 game in my opinion given the batting on display from both sides.
I think Pakistan can bat well against this England side, and if they get any momentum like Ireland did in the 3rd ODI then that will give a good opportunity for a momentum trade. The Old Trafford wicket was pretty slow and if we get a pitch like that, a wicket or two will never be far away but clearly a lot depends on how much rain we get as to what the market does.
