THE EDGE: The Edge previews the India v England 4th T20 with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
India v England 4th T20
MATCH OVERVIEW:
India and England do battle again on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as the sides move onto Pune for the 4th T20 on Friday. England managed to keep the series alive with a pretty impressive win last time out after going 2-0 behind with two poor batting performances. Finally the batting came to the party, Ben Duckett at the top of the order smashed 51 off just 28 balls and then Liam Livingstone scored 43 off just 23 balls. With Jos Buttler in excellent form with the bat too – we could have a dramatic end to this series yet!
As I said heading into that game, with Buttler in good form, England just needed someone to stay with him – himself and Ben Duckett had England nearly at ten an over when Butler got out, and that was the platform they needed. We landed our bet on England at 3.05, and the market has reacted bringing them in for this game. From an Indian point of view, some of their bowlers really went around the park – there’s a big difference in the figures with Varun Chakravarthy being the star of course with five wickets. Their batting was finally tested in the chase, and England just kept taking wickets to knock them back.
It’ll be interesting to see what India do if they win the toss – the in thing at the moment is to chase, but I actually feel this young Indian side would benefit from batting first. They made reasonably hard work of chasing in the 2nd T20 too. With England now gaining some confidence, as I said above we might just have an exciting finish yet.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
At the start of this tour, it was billed as a “recording breaking” tour with high scoring grounds and exciting young sides. It hasn’t quite worked out like that yet! You could say Pune has been a little unloved as a venue – no IPL cricket here for the last two seasons, and only four T20 Internationals in it’s history. England actually played the first International T20 here in 2012; since then Sri Lanka have played three times – hardly the most glamorous fixture! Sri Lanka did win here in 2023 though posting over 200 and defending it. When we had the IPL here in 2022, we saw a couple of 200+ scores but batting first was a real advantage. The side who bat first won ten out of thirteen games.
RECOMMENDED BET:
The market has bounced around on this series quite a bit. India started 1.69 and then were sub 1.5 by the 3rd T20. As I said above, I felt the 3.05 was too big on England and while the market has moved them into 2.62 I still feel that does offer value. This England batting line-up is exceptionally talented and they will put India under huge pressure if they get going – it feels like the cobwebs are off now and they are worth backing again. India are a fantastic side, I’d just have England a little shorter.
The Edge Says:
One point win England to beat India at 2.62 with Betdaq Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With a lack of cricket here recently, especially strong T20 International data and no IPL in two years, you have to go into this game with an open mind. It’s hard to have a set in-running strategy when you’re heading into a game with conditions unknown. As I highlighted above; ten of thirteen games here in the IPL in 2022 were won by the first who batted first. Obviously it’s been a few years since so keep an open mind – especially considering chasing is in vogue these days in cricket. However, I do feel batting first would benefit both batting line-ups, and I’d expect the side who bats first to do pretty well and move the market.
