London Spirit v Manchester Originals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Hundred continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange with what looks like a contest for the wooden spoon this season! Nobody wants to be last, but unfortunately for London Spirit and Manchester Originals, they just haven’t been good enough this season. Manchester Originals are nailed to the bottom of the table without a win yet from their five games, while London Spirit have only managed one win. The ECB said at the start of the season that this was the shop window given they are going to sell the franchises this winter; that will be fascinating because we have two huge clubs here from Lord’s and Old Trafford – proper Test grounds with big fanbases – but their cricket has been woeful!

I doubt the IPL owners that are interested in buying will care about results on field this season; they will always feel that they can change that going forward, but it is interesting none the less to see what they sell for. The London Spirit batting has been incredibly weak, but it always looked that way on paper it has to be said – we have landed some nice bets against them so far. It always looked like Andre Russell doing something crazy or bust. For Manchester Originals, they have been without their star man Jos Buttler through injury.

The middle-order has looked weak for Manchester Originals, and that’s playing out. I would say however that their overall batting has been a little stronger than London Spirit. We have a fascinating game and market here, despite it being a low quality affair.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This is the final group game at Lord’s before a little break and then we have the Final in a little over a week. Scoring has been low here, but that has been a theme at the Hundred this season with players blaming the logo on the ball for excessive movement. The first inning scores here have been 127/7 (chased), 94/9 (chased) and 147/5 (won). Lord’s is a huge outfield and they always leave the ropes out too, with the two sides struggling with the bat I wouldn’t go into this game expecting a high scoring game. You wouldn’t even be surprised to see a chasing side fail to chase down a sub-par score.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This is definitely a game for small stakes. We have two sides here that we have been against for the tournament, and we’ve been doing very well with that angle. I wouldn’t trust either side batting and given the way they have played they have to be short on confidence too. I really dislike the London Spirit batting, I feel they are a side to take on more so than Manchester Originals – they have batted better in my opinion but obviously they are missing key players and that’s hurting them. The market has London Spirit as the favourites but I don’t agree with that – I wouldn’t argue with a 50/50 market to be honest but I’m happy with a small value bet on Manchester Originals at 2.06.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This is a game that’s going to be littered with mistakes from both sides. There’s a reason why they take up the bottom two spots in the table, and it’s not because they have been unlucky! Scores have been low at Lord’s this season and with both sides struggling with the bat, you wouldn’t want to be on either side while batting. The only batting element I’d want to support is the Manchester Originals top three, after they go that middle order looks very weak and I’d flip against them. In terms of London Spirit batting, I’m happy to be against the whole line-up at the moment and that’s where we might see the most market movement.
