Lucknow Super Giants v Gujarat Titans

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a massive double header at the IPL on Betdaq Betting Exchange! Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals is the early game but our focus is on the afternoon fixture between Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. As you would expect, we’ve had a very competitive tournament so far – there’s just so many stars on show that brings the sides closer together really. No IPL side is weak on paper really. These two sit in mid table and while they aren’t going to be fighting to top the table, they both look good enough for a playoff spot.

Obviously Gujarat Titans have been immensely successful for their short period as a franchise, but they have lost some key players in the off season and look weaker than last season. Their bowling has been their weak point so far compared to their batting, and that was highlighted again when they posted 199/4 on Thursday only to see it chased in the final over by Punjab Kings in an amazing game. After losing to Rajasthan Royals in their opening game, Lucknow have bounced back nicely with two wins against Punjab Kings and RCB. It’s fair to say that Lucknow have the best opening pair with de Kock and KL Rahul, but they have yet to get going together!

This should be a good game; I feel like the game will be decided by the batters because you can definitely say that both sides weak point is their bowling. Gujarat are still dealing with not having Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya. Can the Lucknow batting take advantage?

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This is the second game at Lucknow and we saw a very big score in the opening game. Lucknow posted 199/8 and won keeping Punjab Kings down to 178/5. Last season was pretty low scoring apart from the opening game – the first inning scores in order of games played were; 193/6 (won), 121/8 (chased), 159/8 (chased), 135/6 (won), 126/9 (won) and 177/3 (won). I would definitely bat first and try to get the best out of the wicket.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s not a surprise to see a very even market here. Gujarat Titans are the marginal favourites but there’s barely anything between the sides and they could easily flip-flop before the game starts. Gujarat Titans have an excellent record against Lucknow, but as I said above they are without key players they had in the past. I like the Lucknow batting line-up; granted I take on board their bowling could be better but bowling seems to be the weak point for Gujarat too. I’d have Lucknow as the marginal favourites instead of Gujarat, and I’m happy with a small bet at 2.02.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I would recommend taking the first few overs to get a feel for conditions here. It was pretty low scoring last season after the opening game. I wouldn’t just go into this game expecting a big score like the first fixture here. I feel the best edge in-play will be supporting the side who bats first; they get best use of conditions and I would also suggest both sets of bowlers are worth taking on. You can support the side batting first and then have a rethink at the innings break about whether to trade out or hold your position.
