MATCH OVERVIEW:
Rajasthan Royals host the Delhi Capitals on Betdaq Betting Exchange as the IPL action continues on Thursday afternoon! Rajasthan sat top of the table after everyone had played one game over the weekend as they beat Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs giving them the best net run rate. It was the perfect start for them, and there’s also room for improvement too as their star man Jos Buttler only got 11 runs. Sanju Samson played a superb knock in the middle order, he finished not out on 82 and what a start to the tournament for Rajasthan’s captain that is. He should be full of confidence now to lead the side.
Delhi Capitals have been struggling recently, and they got off to a poor start when losing against Punjab Kings. They set a good target of 174/9 but the bowlers let them down. On paper, their bowling should be OK but Mitchell Marsh went around the park as did Khaleel Ahmed. They might suffer from teams just “seeing off” their better bowlers and then targeting the weaker links. I’d also worry about their middle order if Warner, Marsh and Pant go early – but any side would struggle to deal with losing those three cheaply in fairness.
On paper, Rajasthan have a very strong side. Their bowling looks very balanced if everyone stays fit – maybe their middle order lacks a little power but they have so much up top that might not be a problem. It’s hard to see them outside the playoff spots. After winning the IPL title when the tournament moved to the UAE, Delhi have been playing poor cricket recently. Lungi Ngidi out is a major blow, as is Harry Brook and their side looks light on star talent now.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Jaipur is usually a very nice place to bat – we do tend to get dew here and that is always a major problem for the bowlers. Rajasthan put up 193/4 in the first game here and successfully defended it. Usually it’s a shrewd decision to chase here but we had five games here last season and three were won by the side batting side along with the opening game here of course. The first inning scores here last season were; 154/7 (won), 202/5 (won), 118 all out (chased in 13.5 overs), 214/2 (chased) and 171/5 (won).
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s not a surprise to see Rajasthan as the favourites here, they look like the much stronger side on paper. Their batting fired in their opening game, and their bowling looks much better here. Delhi wouldn’t have been unhappy with their score of 174/9 at the innings break but obviously there has to be concerns with their batting. David Warner hasn’t put an IPL game to bed in a long time, his strike rate isn’t too high these days and then you have all the fitness worries with Pant on his return to action as well. Rajasthan tick a lot of boxes here, and they are worth backing at 1.77.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
A good trading strategy at this ground was to back the chasing side, but that has changed over the last few years. It’s a no brainer to look out for dew though, it can get very heavy here and as we know it’s a nightmare for the bowlers – that’s why the chasing record was so good here. I’d be keen to take on the Delhi bowling, especially the pace bowling in what should be good batting conditions. I’d also be happy to take on David Warner at the top of the Delhi order – I don’t think his strike rate will do much damage in these conditions.
