THE EDGE: The Edge previews Tuesday’s IPL clash between Lucknow Super Giants v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Lucknow Super Giants v Mumbai Indians
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Lucknow Super Giants host Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. We have a very interesting market here; once again Mumbai Indians are the clear favourites but they have been very average this season – they have only managed three wins from their nine games to sit close to bottom of the table. We landed a five star NAP on Rajasthan Royals to beat Mumbai at 2.2 last week and while Lucknow Super Giants haven’t been as good as Rajasthan this season, they are still a very appealing bet here at the same odds.
Lucknow Super Giants lost at the weekend to Rajasthan who are running away with top spot at the moment. The results at the weekend has left things wide open in the race for the playoffs below Rajasthan though; it’s going to be a close battle between Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants along with Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings – there’s plenty in the mix. It’s a massive week in that regard. Lucknow have been reasonable impressive thus far; they have their flaws of course – their bowling is their weakness and their batting has flopped at times, but no IPL side is perfect.
They have definitely been more consistent than Mumbai however! The Mumbai bowling has been very poor this season, and it’s hard to have any confidence in them when they have been leaking so many runs. I fully respect their batting has been good for the most part – this game is going to be decided on the Lucknow batting versus the Mumbai bowling – Lucknow have a blockbuster line-up but they need a solid start from the openers. An interesting game awaits!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This IPL has been exceptionally high scoring. We have saw things we didn’t think possible at times; records have been broken for scores posted and we’ve seen literally once-in-a-lifetime chases. Lucknow hasn’t been the highest scoring venue, but it’s definitely been better than expected. The first inning scores here have been; 199/8 (won), 163/5 (won), 167/7 (chased), 176/6 (chased) and 196/5 (chased). The general feeling here is that scores would go down as the tournament goes on, but I wouldn’t count on that this season! I’d definitely wait and see what the wicket plays like, and go into the game with an open mind.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I touched on this above, but I really can’t have Mumbai Indians trading as short as 1.79 here. Indeed, I couldn’t even have them as favourites. They have been woeful at times with the ball in hand, and while I fully accept their batting has been solid overall it’s just hard to support them with that bowling line-up. They have leaking runs consistently and put their batters under immense pressure. I know the Lucknow batting line-up isn’t exactly bombproof – there’s a lot of hitters who need to get going etc. However, overall the Lucknow batting has impressed me and at 2.2 I’m happy with a five star NAP on the home side.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, I would go into this game with an open mind on conditions. This IPL has been incredibly high scoring at pretty much every venue. You would usually think that Chennai and Lucknow would be the lower and slower wickets but they’ve both still been high scoring. I feel we’ll get the most market movement here when Mumbai bowl in either innings – I’d be very keen to take them on again.
