Delhi Capitals v Kolkata Knight Riders

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Indian Premier League show rolls onto Delhi Capitals v KKR on Wednesday. This should be another very competitive betting heat on Betdaq Betting Exchange. KKR have had an excellent start to the season; two wins from two games with their batting line-up on fire. Their bowlers are still a worry however; they conceded over 200 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad despite winning and then 182/6 against RCB, but that was under-par at Bengaluru. Mitchell Starc, KKR’s star bowler, has been smashed around the park so far!

As they say form is temporary and class is permanent, but if he doesn’t start keeping the run rate down then KKR will continue to leak runs. They need him to lead the pace attack – he’s always going to bowl four overs too; so it’s not like they can remove him from the attack if he’s conceded 35 runs off three overs! Delhi have had a difficult start – one win from their opening three games leaves them close to the bottom of the table. As I said prior to their last game, they had a brilliant squad for the conditions in the UAE and they haven’t been that competitive since. That was their time to win a tournament but they came up short.

A win against CSK will give them a huge boost after two opening losses though. The top order batted superbly and the bowlers finished the job. If that top order gets going again here they could really cash in with the KKR bowlers being so loose at the start of the tournament.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We now have the latter half of the tournament after the BCCI released it, and this is the final game at Visakhapatnam. Delhi will move back to their traditional home ground after the elections – the opening game there will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 20th of this month. Batting conditions looked good last weekend – Delhi posted 191/5 and although CSK came up short they finished with 171/6. I don’t expect conditions to change much – I would suggest 175/180 would be a very good position if batting first. I also think you’d bat first having watched the first game here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This should be a very close game. I was actually surprised to see such a big gap in the betting with KKR 1.81 and Delhi Capitals 2.2. I know the KKR batting has been firing, but like I said their bowling is there for the taking. I’d expect a closer game than the odds suggest here, especially if Delhi bat first and get first use of conditions. Although CSK came up 20 runs short at the weekend, it’s worth pointing out this has been a high scoring venue for International cricket so we could see 200+ batting first. I’m very happy with Delhi at 2.2, even more so if they bat first.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Delhi Capitals (if they bat first) to beat Kolkata Knight Riders at 2.2 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

There’s a couple of angles here worth mentioning, and we’ll see how play develops. I do feel batting first will offer an edge here, and I would be open to supporting either side if batting first – I wouldn’t be surprised to see 190+ again, maybe even 200. The Delhi top order looks worth supporting, but their lower order is weak; they have a long tail and if they go five down they are worth taking on or closing a position on them. The KKR bowling has also been there for the taking despite two wins! We could see them go around the park again here.
