MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Delhi Capitals take on Lucknow Super Giants on Monday! We had some blockbuster clashes on the opening weekend as KKR hosted RCB and CSK hosted Mumbai Indians; this is the first game where we settle into the routine season. These two are among the outsiders in terms of winning the tournament; Delhi have been left high and dry by Harry Brook again, and one wonders how Faf Du Plessis will do now he is retired from International cricket a while.
Ricky Ponting has moved on from Delhi after a run of poor seasons. Delhi peaked when the IPL was hosted in the UAE as conditions there really suited their squad; since then they have struggled but they do have a top class bowling attack. I do feel that their batting will let them down though. For Lucknow Super Giants to have a chance, they really need Pooran, Pant and Miller to fire – I think it’s fair to say that on paper they have the weakest squad in the tournament this season. The jury is definitely out on their opening pair at the top of the order.
We have a very interesting game here towards the start of the tournament. You wouldn’t be surprised to see either of these sides take up the bottom spot come the end of the season – from that point of view a fast start here is massive for a confident boost. It could easily be the difference between a reasonably good season and a washout!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Delhi are going to have their opening two home games in Visakhapatnam. We might actually have some drama with Delhi games this season because of the air-pollution levels in Delhi, but that’s for later. We had two games here last season at the start of the tournament too; the side who batted first won both times. The scores were 191/5 and 272/7 – those two games were the only IPL games here so we don’t have much to go off; I’d go into this game with an open mind on scoring, but as we can see conditions were very good last season.
RECOMMENDED BET:
The reality is we have two reasonably weak sides here; Delhi come into the game as the favourites at 1.84 and that’s not surprising given Lucknow Super Giants lack a little quality in their side by IPL standards. I think we’ll see a very even game here, between two sides that could struggle this season. I know it’s only two games from last season, but batting first was clearly an edge and I feel between two evenly matched sides that will be the difference – I’m happy to back whoever bats first.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Given the lack of ground data here, you do have to approach this with an open mind. However, we did see a reasonable edge batting first last season from a very small sample – I do feel batting first will offer a slight edge again here. I’d be very happy to support the team who bats first, and I feel that is where we will see most market movement.
