Mumbai Indians v Royal Challengers Bengaluru
MATCH OVERVIEW:
A new week begins at the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! The tournament is in full flow now, and we kick off the week with Mumbai Indians hosting RCB. Mumbai Indians come into this game already under immense pressure with three losses from four games – as a franchise they have been struggling for a number of years now. They’ve finished rock bottom in two of the last three seasons, and by the looks of things they could be in a battle to avoid bottom spot again. They had to do without Rohit Sharma against Lucknow Super Giants, and the top order looks very weak without him.
RCB are one of the most supported franchises in the IPL, but they are still waiting for their golden moment. For years, they have focused on getting star names with the bat but those tactics have rarely worked. The budget was always spent on three or four players, and their bowling always ended up light. They have changed tactics over the last two years, and that seems to be paying off. Two wins from their opening three games is a good start; their aim has to be those two top spots so they get two chances at the Final. They’ll be hoping to bat better than their home game last week though where they got hammered by Gujarat Titans!
This is should be a fascinating game. It’s been quite easy to find flaws with these two sides for a while now, but it definitely feels like RCB are heading in the right direction. Mumbai Indians come into the game as the favourites though; they are a crowd favourite, but they haven’t done much to justify the favourite tag!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The Wankhede will be absolutely rocking for this game. This is the second game of the season here, it’s usually a high scoring venue but we had a completely blowout in the opening game here. Kolkata Knight Riders collapsed for 116 and it was chased down in 12.5 overs. That was actually the only game Mumbai have won this season. We actually had a collapse in the opening game here last season too, then we saw 234/5 scored in the second game! We saw 200+ scored twice more last season, and 196/8 chased down.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I mentioned this above, but I really feel that we have the wrong favourite here. I know RCB have their own flaws, but I’d have them as the favourites here. I was very surprised to see Mumbai trading as 1.85 favourites. I feel the 2.16 on RCB offers fantastic value – their bowling is much better than Mumbai. In expected good batting conditions, that just might be the difference. I’m not fully convinced with this Mumbai batting line-up either – I actually feel we’re getting so much value on RCB that they are worth a Five Star NAP!

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
We saw a very one sided collapse here in the opening game, and although it’s a shrewd tactic to confirm conditions, I would go into this game generally expecting a pretty high scoring game. You’d expect the batters to dominate the bowlers. I have more confidence in the RCB batting, and definitely more confidence in the RCB bowling – so I would go with the angle of supporting RCB when they bat in either innings. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mumbai still post a decent score here given we see a lot of 200+ scores here, but I’m expecting RCB to be on top in this game so I’ll be focusing on finding the right trades on them.
