THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Monday’s IPL clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore v Chennai Super Kings with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We kick off another week of Indian Premier League action on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with an absolute cracker on Monday! Two IPL heavyweights clash as Royal Challengers Bangalore host Chennai Super Kings. This is an important game for both sides, and the loser will certainly be on the backfoot looking at the table. Both have two wins and two losses from their opening four games – two talented squads, but clearly have issues too. At the moment you’d have to say that they will be battling for that final playoff spot rather than sitting towards the top of the table.

RCB clearly have a lot of star power in their batting top order, but as always they have issues with their batting in the lower order and their bowling. They have beaten Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals who have been sitting at the bottom of the table – indeed, Delhi Capitals have lost their opening five games! CSK have been very competitive in every game, and came close to getting a result against Rajasthan Royals earlier in the week too. At the moment given the way the Royals are playing, there’s no shame losing by three runs to them.

This should be a cracking game. A lot will depend on how the opening batters will go for both sides, and then the middle order as well. Glenn Maxwell has to hold that middle order together for RCB, especially if the openers go cheaply. Virat Kohli was in the spotlight in this IPL already, seemingly slowly down to score a 50 – but was it him slowing down or just the fact he couldn’t score against spin after the powerplay? As always with Kohli, there’s always spotlight and pressure.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This will be the fourth IPL game at Bangalore this tournament, and so far scoring has been very high. We saw the first signs of scoring slowing down in the third game, but I wouldn’t read too much into that as it was Delhi Capitals. There three first inning scores have been 171/7 (chased), 212/2 (chased) and 174/6 (won). A side better than Delhi could have probably chased that 174/6, and really you need to aiming for as close to 200 as possible here, probably even more especially if we get dew. Bangalore has always been a batter friendly IPL ground.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We should have a cracking game here, and I would have the sides even closer together in the market. I make this a real 50/50 game, and I was slightly surprised to see CSK trading 2.08. There isn’t much it in, only a few ticks to 2.0, but I feel the 2.08 is definitely worth backing. Their bowling has been better than RCB, and they have a very solid middle order. RCB are really relying on their star batters to fire – that has been their model for years to be honest without success, you’d think they’d change by now – but CSK have bowled well enough to keep them down to a decent score here. I’d still expect a high scoring game, but CSK to edge it.

The Edge Says:
One point win Chennai Super Kings to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore at 2.08 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Bangalore has always been a good venue to score runs at, and things haven’t changed. We’ve had three reasonably high scores so far, and I really wouldn’t stay on either bowling side for long here. I feel the CSK bowlers will do much better, but I would rather support the CSK batting against the RCB bowlers than stay for long within the market on any bowling side here. With a good wicket, short boundaries and usually dew, it isn’t a place you want to bowl at! It might be worth taking on the RCB lower order when batting, but otherwise we can expect runs here – I wouldn’t be surprised to see 200+ chased again.
