MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a massive double header today, but I’m happy to focus on the second fixture as the defending Champions Sydney Sixers take on the Melbourne Renegades. It’s been a while since we saw a Big Bash game at Coffs Harbour, but the last time Sydney Sixers were here we had sell-out crowds. With attendance figures very low at the Big Bash this season, tournament chiefs will be hoping to see a full house here.

Sydney Sixers have Perth Scorchers have been locked in a battle at the top of the table. They look the best two sides in the competition, while unfortunately for Melbourne Renegades they sit bottom of the table. The Perth Scorchers v Melbourne Stars game was postponed on Thursday leaving Sydney Sixers top of the table, and they can extend their lead here. Melbourne Renegades have been very poor in the Big Bash for a while now, and it looks like they going to finish bottom of the table. They need a complete change – that’s two years in a row they have been woeful.

While the Sydney Sixers don’t exactly have a star player, they have a fantastic team that gel together very well. They have won six of their seven matches, and it will take a very good side to stop them making it all Big Bash titles in a row. For Melbourne Renegades, they have lost five of their six games and they will be hoping that the ground conditions can help them because they really need a helping hand if they are going to win here!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, it’s been a while since we saw cricket at Coffs Harbour so I’m happy to go into this game with a completely open mind. We had one game here in the 2019/2020 season which saw Sydney Sixers successfully chase down 176/6 by the Adelaide Strikers. I would lean towards having good batting conditions here, especially with only two fixtures here. The crowd get a treat having cricket here, and I’m sure the ground what to put on a good show. That being said, you have to go into the game with an open mind here given the break between games.

RECOMMENDED BET:

There has been very little positives for Melbourne Renegades over the last two seasons, and there has been very little negatives for the Sydney Sixers! We could get very good batting conditions here, and Melbourne Renegades might chase down a score with plenty of sixes but other than that I just can’t see past the Sixers here. So much has to go wrong for the Sixers for them to come down to the level of the Renegades and I just can’t see that happening. The 1.57 looks too big on the Sixers who are in fantastic form with the ball and bat – they will out class this Renegades side.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As so much of the in-running strategy focuses on conditions, I would keep stakes low here. We just don’t have the volume of cricket here to find an edge whether it’s batting or bowling first. I feel looking at past games, batting second might be a small edge but that’s pretty much total guess work based on a small sample size. I would be happy to support the Sixers batting and bowling against the Renegades, and the market will be keen to stay on the Sixers throughout the game. The Renegades batting and bowling just isn’t good enough at the moment and I wouldn’t be happy having a large trade on them!
