BIG BASH: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Saturday’s Big Bash game between Brisbane Heat v Sydney Sixers with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Big Bash returns to The Gabba on Saturday with all cricket bets 0% commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! We’ve had three dramatic games so far here, so hopefully this game is just as good. Brisbane Heat managed to get over the line here against Hobart Hurricanes but it wasn’t without drama as they went from 76/2 to 102/6 before finally chasing the 148. Then they managed to lose the next game by 1 run needing just 7 runs off 6 balls, and also 7 runs off 4 balls against Adelaide Strikers!
The Sydney Sixers have got off to a flying start with four wins from five games, and started 2021 top of the table. Their batting has been very impressive and they have won two very close chases. They chased Melbourne Stars 193/5 to win with only one wicket to spare and then chased down the Renegades 168/6 to win with only two wickets in hand. Close wins like that will always give a side confidence, and that’s also the opposite of what the Heat have been doing!
The Sixers have a very solid look to their side. Silk, Christian and Holder are a very good mid-to-low order with experience to see an innings out, and they can only improve if the top three start scoring big runs. Their bowling is their little weak point, but the Heat bowling is very poor. The Sixers will be disappointed if they can’t win.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
As I have noted in my previews from this venue, the scores have been reducing over the last two years. This looks to be the case again this season, with the first three games here having first inning scores of 150/6 (won by 2 runs), 148/7 (chased) and 150 all out (won by 1 run). Brisbane Heat being poor has of course been a factor, but the Strikers and Hurricanes are solid sides and they were only managing around 150. Another similar score would be bang in the game today, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sixers scored more given the quality of their batting against the Brisbane bowling.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I really fancy the Sixers here at 1.7. The Heat looked very poor on paper coming into the tournament and I haven’t seen anything to suggest otherwise. Even in the game they won against Hobart Hurricanes, they started well and then had a collapse of the middle order. Their bowling is pretty weak and with the Sixers looking very strong in the batting department I feel that is where the game will be won. I’d have Sixers closer to 1.6 than 1.7.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With all bets 0% commission, let’s hope it’s a good game for trading and we have plenty of all green books out there. Despite Brisbane Heat playing pretty poor cricket, you can’t say that their games haven’t been good for trading – we have had some crazy swings! They traded down at 1.1 before losing to Sydney Thunder too. For today, I would be very keen to get on the Sixers if they batted first against this Heat bowling. Batting first seems like the right thing to do to take advantage of conditions too.
I would happily support the Sixer middle order too if they lost early wickets – their top three have to score more runs this tournament and when they do you should see some big scores with their middle order. The Heat middle order has been very poor, and I will be keen to be against them when the time comes.
