BIG BASH: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Saturday’s Big Bash Qualifier between Sydney Sixers v Perth Scorchers with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The top two teams in the Big Bash season this face off on Saturday morning in the Qualifier! It’s great we have such a high quality game to benefit from the 0% commission on all cricket bets on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! Sydney Thunder closed to gap a little on the Perth Scorchers on the final day, but these two teams have been the best teams for a few weeks. Perth Scorchers really hit form when they were able to play cricket at their home ground, and Sydney Sixers have been rock solid right throughout the tournament.
The Sixers don’t do anything flashy, and they don’t have many eye-catching stars in their XI either, but they really do get the job done. They bat really well with power hitting right down the order. If you look at their batting order, it’s just solid right down the middle. Henriques, Silk, Brathwaite and Christian is a lot of batting and one, if not two, of them are bound to come off. Christian has had a very good season actually considering he’s become a journeyman now but he scored 49 off 23 balls to beat Melbourne Stars the other day – he’s been playing with confidence and he’s obviously enjoying the Sixers set up.
The Scorchers have some excellent batting too – Roy, Munro, Inglis and Marsh can really get the innings going. I’d expect the bat to come out on top today over the ball looking at the two teams, and it’s seems fair to suggest that whoever bowls better will win. For the winner, a place in the final awaits – for the loser, it’s the challenger and another bite at the cherry.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The Manuka Oval will host the next two Playoff games, and the players should know what to expect here. We’ve had a lot of cricket here with Cricket Australia obviously favouring this ground given the current Covid19 situation. The last three first inning scores have been; 177/5 (chased), 163/7 (chased) and 149/6 (chased). This ground has been exceptionally good for batting – earlier in the tournament we had a score of 219/7 and then Brisbane Heat also scored 115/3 in a ten over game. With two very strong batting line-ups, you’d have to expect a high score here. I would bowl first, even allowing for the chance you could concede a lot of runs. 180 looks unsafe for the team batting first, so the pressure would be on.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I have to say I don’t agree with the odds here. The market has Perth Scorchers as favourites and I feel it should be the Sydney Sixers. I’m very happy to take the 2.1 on the Sixers – they have been rock solid right throughout the tournament. Perth have had some good performances, but they have had some poor ones too. I don’t think there’s much between the pair in the batting department, but I feel the Sixers might have the edge in the bowling department. Even if you didn’t have a favourite and had the teams 50/50, the Sixers still offer a shade of value at 2.1.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, we should have a high quality game here between two very strong sides. That should mean we see plenty of swings in-running as the game ebbs and flows. Looking at the stats, you would favour the chasing team however that wouldn’t put me off a trade on the team batting first once they get past the new ball. The conditions looks very good for batting here and it’s hard not to see the bat winning out over the ball.
Both sides have very strong batting line-ups, but I wouldn’t mind taking on the Sixers openers – they are really strong in the middle order, but although Vince scored over 40 the other day he has still be poor with the bat and I’d take him on. For Perth they have a strong opening pair and three/four are strong too, but then I’d be keen to get against their tail.
