India v Pakistan

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a blockbuster at the Cricket World Cup on Saturday as India meet Pakistan. This fixture is always special, mainly because we don’t see it often, and it could be an excellent game for trading on BETDAQ Betting Exchange too. India are the hot favourite of course, but Pakistan have already broken the record chase in a World Cup and come into this tournament in an excellent position. Pakistan fans would have been very interested to see Australia lose again on Thursday; that definitely opens up the tournament a little!

India v Pakistan will always be a fixture that stops the cricketing world. Let alone a fixture in India; the BCCI won’t play Pakistan outside of World Cups and the Asia Cup; they even kicked up a fuss about Pakistan hosting the Asia Cup. Fans going to this game face a logistical nightmare; not only will security be extremely high, this was one of the rescheduled fixtures! Not only that, the BCCI have forced fans to collect physical tickets before getting into the game; no QR codes we seem to be living in the dark ages for this World Cup!

Nevertheless, all those issues go away when the first ball is bowled. India absolutely hammered Pakistan in the Asia Cup in September, they posted 356/2 and bowled them out for 128 after a weather delay. Pakistan did bowled India out for 266 at the Group stage, but rain meant they didn’t get a chance to chase it down. Conditions in Ahmedabad are likely to suit India; a flat wicket takes away Pakistan’s bowling strength more so than India in my opinion. However, this is a fixture where nerves will play a part; it doesn’t come much bigger than this!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

I said before the England v New Zealand game that we have had two types of wickets here. Very flat ones and ones that turn square. Judging by New Zealand chasing down 282/9 from England in just 36.2 with only one wicket lost, I would expect very good batting conditions. Pakistan chased down 344/9 in this tournament already; they could actually need to chase down or set a higher score than that here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

India are the hot favourites at 1.44, but it’s really hard to see past them. Their squad is exceptionally strong in every department, and I feel conditions will suit them here. I would give Pakistan more chance on a wicket with something in it for the bowlers. I do expect a flat wicket here and very good batting conditions. A par score might be 350; I don’t think that suits the Pakistan batters, especially as they don’t have much power hitting in the lower order. I know they did it against Sri Lanka, but there’s a big gulf in class between them and India! At 1.44, India are a confident bet for me,

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Judging by the England v New Zealand game, I would expect a high scoring game. England definitely batted too slow, and they weren’t as aggressive as they usually are in the opening game of the tournament. It’s actually a tricky decision at the toss; bat and post a high score or chase and possibly do what New Zealand did. I mainly want to be looking for trades on the batting side here, however I’m not keen supporting the Pakistan lower order; happy to support the top order on this wicket though. Virat Kohli has looked very good so far, his wicket will be worth a lot of ticks but now isn’t the time to take him on in my opinion. What a game we have in store!
