IPL GAME 27: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Saturday’s Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings game in the IPL with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We’re coming close to the mid-way points of the IPL season and we have a cracking fixture on Saturday as Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings in Delhi! All cricket bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange too, so hopefully we have an excellent game for trading. Mumbai Indians bounced back with a smooth win here on Thursday, but that only came against Rajasthan Royals who have been struggling with their bowling. Mumbai chased 171/4 very easily, but they should find life tougher against an in-form CSK side.
CSK have been excellent since losing their opening game against Delhi Capitals, and went back to the top of the table after a terrible season last season. They have won five of their six games, and you’d have to say we are close to having two parts of the table – Mumbai are the key here, as they start this game with six points and CSK, RCB and Delhi look clear. The bottom four just aren’t playing good cricket at the moment and if Mumbai come into form they are unlikely to catch any of the top four.
Mumbai would have been very pleased with their performance against Rajasthan, however their top order scored most of their runs and they have had issues with their middle order. I still rate their middle order however, as they were excellent last season but they are out of touch. Pollard scored a quick 16 though and they will need him to finish innings off in style with Hardik Pandya. CSK will be a very tough test though as their batters and bowlers look in excellent form.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This will be the third game in Delhi and so far we have had two very similar games. These sides have been involved and it’s almost crazy how both first innings finished 171 and then the chasing sides chased it down in exactly 18.3 overs twice! Batting at Delhi had be getting tougher over the years, but as I said with the gap in cricket and a lot of games at the one venue this season, it’s was hard to know what kind of conditions we would get. Based on what we have saw 170 clearly isn’t enough and I would be aiming towards 190+ if batting first. It’s actually hard to know what a par score is, so I would bowl first.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I respect the fact that Mumbai are a very good side – they were actually by far and away the best side in the tournament last season and that wasn’t so long ago. But I feel the odds are all wrong here. CSK have been excellent with the bat and bowl – they look in superb form and I don’t think you could say the same about Mumbai. I know Mumbai have had to bat in Chennai and it was difficult conditions there, but they will be under a lot more pressure here against CSK than Rajasthan. I’d have CSK as slight favourites and they look massive at 2.2. They have to be a max bet at the odds.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Over the past number of years, the average score was coming down at Delhi and it looked like one of the tricky grounds to bat on. Teams didn’t have a good record chasing either, but in the two games this year chasing has looked easy. I would have an open mind about batting conditions, given the huge gap with no cricket and we could easily have a huge bias towards the chasing team. That being said, Rajasthan are really struggling with their bowling and so are Sunrisers Hyderabad so that could explain the easy chases too.
For me, the Mumbai batting has yet to really fire. It’s one thing scoring runs against a poor Rajasthan side, and it’s another scoring against the in-form bowlers from CSK. The CSK top order looks in excellent touch, and I would be keen to support them and I would also be keen to get against the Mumbai middle order.
