West Indies v England 4th T20

MATCH OVERVIEW:

West Indies and England are back in action in Gros Islet on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as we have the 4th T20 on Saturday night. England already have the series won as they took the 3rd T20 on Thursday night to go 3-0 up in the series – after a very disappointing 2-1 ODI series loss, this was a badly needed bounce back. Obviously England faced a lot of criticism after the ODI series defeat – West Indies haven’t been a top tier side for a number of years now – and the reality is that the 50 over domestic competition in England just doesn’t work. It runs alongside the Hundred, so none of these young England players get that experience of 50 over domestic cricket for game situations.

It’s no surprise that England have been a much more polished side in this format, while the West Indies batting hasn’t really fired since the ODI’s, you have to give massive credit to the England bowlers. I strongly felt that batting first would offer an edge here in the 3rd T20, and to be honest my opinion hasn’t changed after seeing that game. West Indies definitely got an under par score as 145/8 but England had to go to the final over to chase it with only three wickets in hand too.

England have the series in the bag, Saqib Mahmood has been excellent with the ball so from their point of view they don’t need to improve much. The West Indies simply have to find a way to get more runs – that has been the major issue in the three T20’s so far – they’ve been well short of par in every game.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The sides are staying in St Lucia for the final two T20’s – Saturday and Sunday. Conditions shouldn’t change too much; obviously a lot depends on whether or not we get a fresh wicket each time. I would suggest keeping a close eye on any X account that might release details of what wicket they decide to use in the build-up to the game. Remember how much the market moved when they release the wicket information for the 2nd Test between Pakistan and England! I still feel batting first will offer an edge, the West Indies batting just didn’t fire on Thursday.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Keeping stakes small before the start here is a must in my opinion. We could easily see some changes to either side with the series already in the bag for England – you might see a lot of market movement at the toss and on the team news which general come at the same time as the captains meet in the middle. We backed the side who batted first on Thursday, that turned out to be West Indies and we were on the wrong side of the result, but as I said above I still feel it’s an edge and to be honest I’m happy to do the same – the odds haven’t changed much at all from the 3rd T20.

The Edge Says:
One point win the Side Who Bats First (West Indies 2.1, England 1.86) with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Although I feel batting first offers an edge here, the main worry with that tactic has to be the West Indies putting runs on the board. They have been short of par three times in a row, and although England had to work very hard to chase here on Thursday – they made light work of winning the first two T20’s. I’d keep stakes a little small on West Indies if they bat first, and if England bat first I feel they will be a confident trade.
