Zimbabwe v India 4th T20

MATCH OVERVIEW:

India’s tour of Zimbabwe continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange with the 4th T20 on Saturday afternoon. Harare is the venue again, and we should know conditions well here at this stage having watched the first three games here. We had a massive shock in the opening game of the tour as India lost having started the game 1.15. Zimbabwe only posted 115/9 but a very rusty Indian batting line-up collapsed for 102 all out. That’s the unfortunate part of playing a Second XI after a World Cup – none of them had any game time but they have stormed back to lead the series 2-1.

A win for India will seal the series win; although to be honest anything bar a 5-0 win would have been a little disappointing given the changes Zimbabwe are going through at the moment. It would be a shock to win India fail to win the last two games for a 4-1 series win now; and we all know that these players are effectively playing for places in the main Indian XI. Virat Kohli has retired and there’s a few other players on the edge of moving on over the next few years; these young Indian stars have a huge amount to play for. Although Zimbabwe lost the second T20 by 100 runs, they closed that gap to 23 runs in the third T20 and I would suggest that the signs are promising for this Zimbabwe side.

You have to look at these games with a view of the huge gulf in class, and to win one game and get a little close in some others would be a huge success. Who knows, another shock result here and we could have a series decider on Sunday – although that’s very unlikely with India trading as short as 1.12!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, every game from the T20 series will be at Harare – it’s the only ground that can host India in Zimbabwe. We know conditions well here; it’s been interesting to see how India have scored given the previous six T20 International’s here before they touring was Zimbabwe v Ireland. Obviously we’ve had a range of scores depending on who bats first – Zimbabwe only managed 115/9 in the opening game but managed a shock win with that score. Since then India have scored 234/2 and 182/4 to win with Zimbabwe replying to those scores with 134 all out and 159/6. I’d bat first if I won the toss.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise to see India as the red-hot favourites. As I mentioned above, they are trading 1.12 at the time of writing. They have basically ranged between 1.12 and 1.18 so far this series; they started the series at 1.15, went out to 1.18 after the loss and then given the market has seen the gulf in class between the sides it’s very confident on an Indian win here! Zimbabwe have done well, but now that India have settled in and had some time in the middle, I don’t see any shocks here. I’m not going to tip them at 1.12, but I would recommend backing them in-running at 1.25+ if that happens.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, this market will only get interesting if India drift to a price of 1.25+. For that to happen, they definitely need to bat first and lose some early wickets. If Zimbabwe batted first I would expect a 1.01 train; the home side caught India cold in the first game of the tour but I don’t see that happening again. There’s a huge gulf in class between the sides with their batting orders, especially with Zimbabwe missing some key players too. Hopefully we get a slow start from India and can get that 1.25.
