MATCH OVERVIEW:

Once again rain stopped play on Friday night and that has been the story of the Pakistan tour so far. We’ve only managed one result from four games, but the good news for today is it looks like we shouldn’t have any weather worries. England found themselves 131/6 after 16.1 overs when the rain came and it’s pretty difficult to know what they would have got. Six wickets down means it could have easily been 155 all out or a strong finish for 175.

Pakistan were odds on at the time when the rain arrived, however we obviously know that the market was pricing in a shorter run chase with a wet ball. Pakistan bowled reasonably well and it’s fair to say that they showed signs of improved based in their performance in the last two Tests from the limited play we had.

Tom Banton was the star for England with 71 off 42 balls and the big names failed to keep up. Bairstow, Morgan and Ali only added 24 runs between them and they must do better. Pakistan will fancy their chances again against this young England side, but whatever happens we should have an excellent game.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The Old Trafford conditions have made for excellent cricket this summer. It was a shame to lose the 1st T20 to the weather however the forecast was very dodgy looking heading into the fixture. The good news here is that the forecast is clear and we can expect a completed game – highly likely to be a complete 20 overs a side too.

The pitch is perfect for cricket. There’s full value for shots and there’s something for the bowlers to work with. There can be no excuses; the team who plays the best cricket will win.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I tipped Pakistan at 2.5 to win the 1st T20 and they traded down to around 1.8. They were in a pretty good position in truth even if we saw a full 20 overs game. England hadn’t taken the game away from them and depending on what the tail did, they could have been chasing a reasonably low score. It’s all if’s and but’s given what happened, but I stand by my views that this series is pretty much 50/50.

Pakistan are worth backing again today at 2.42. They have come in a little from the 1st T20 as they clearly played competitive cricket. If this was a full strength England side then clearly the thinking would be different but this is a young and beatable England side and I’m happy to back Pakistan at a value price.

The Edge Says:
One point win Pakistan to beat England at 2.42 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Tom Banton was the star for England on Friday and as he opens the batting – we should see the market move very quickly. It’s a difficult situation though as he didn’t have much support so if he went early then Pakistan would be odds on quickly. The weather looks set fair so I don’t see a major advantage to batting or bowling first.

We didn’t get to see Pakistan bat in the 1st T20 but on paper it looks like they have a very strong top order and they will need to get most of the runs. I think they’ll give England another tough game and trade odds on at some point. Their bowling is good enough to keep England down to a reasonable score and I would look for trades when Pakistan have the ball in hand. I wouldn’t be keen to be on them at five or six wickets down when batting however, but I expect another very close game with plenty of swings between the teams. England shouldn’t be so short for me so I can see plenty of flip flopping favourites.
