CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the Caribbean Premier League match on Sunday between Guyana Amazon Warriors v St Lucia Zouks with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

At the start of the tournament, you would have given the Zouks no chance against Guyana. However the Zouks have definitely improved from last season. Their batting has been impressive and while their bowling is still limited, as we seen yesterday when they set decent scores they can win. Historically, they have a terrible record defending a score – but the batters did such a good job yesterday they were able to hang on and defend it.

With all that being said, Guyana should still win here. They managed to defend 118 last night and most importantly; this is a night game – so you would have to expect the bowlers to be well on top. With Tahir leading the Guyana charge, they will be able to out bowl the Zouks here. I have to say, we’ve seen very different scores between the early and late games. It looks so tough to bat in the late games!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, batting in the late game has been a nightmare. You’d have to expected reasonably low scores again today. 118 was defended last night, and while you couldn’t say that you’d be happy with 130 batting first – it’s certainly proven to be a tricky chase. You definitely favour the team batting first as chasing looks very difficult – unless we see a very low score batting first.

The spinners are really taking control of the tournament now. I thought after seeing the first game yesterday, batting might be a little easier after we had a day gap for the groundsmen to work on the wicket but we can expect low scores again tonight.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I like Guyana here. We landed out bet on them to beat Jamaica yesterday and they delivered with a wonderful bowling display. I started the tournament really not liking the Zouks but they have impressed – indeed we backed them to win yesterday over a poor St Kitts side. The reasoning was the St Kitts bowling was weaker and for the same reasons I think the Guyana win is one way traffic here. Guyana’s bowling is really levels above the Zouks.

The Zouks have batted well in the tournament to date, but these late games have been all about the bowlers and the Guyana bowlers will win this game. I’d have Guyana a little short than the current 1.6, and they are worth backing.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Guyana Amazon Warriors to beat St Lucia Zouks at 1.6 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

After seeing late night’s late game, the strategy has to be all about being on the bowling team. Of course, take an early look at conditions and check is it still difficult for batting. However, if we have the same conditions as last night then a score like 130 would be competitive. The Zouks have batted well early and their top order is in form; so I would let them get in and see what happens – then I would be against their middle order and tail.

I would fancy being on the team defending too and picking certain spots there. I wouldn’t be looking for trades on the side batting and would be focused on the bowling side. Tahir will have a big say again of course and it looks like the spinners will win the day again!
