India v England 2nd ODI

MATCH OVERVIEW:

India and England are back in action on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as the sides move to Cuttack on Sunday. England won the toss and opted to make the best use of conditions in the opening ODI at Nagpur, but India were always in command. They were a little sloppy in the chase, but they were still able to complete the victory with 68 balls to spare. While India were obviously be the happier side, you’d have to say at the moment that both sides will have to improve for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

England have been really struggling in the ODI format for a few years now – this tour was the beginning of the Brendon McCullum era as white ball coach, and for the time being not much has changed. They just never really got going in the 1st ODI and for all the talent they have in the batting line-up, no one took hold of the game. That has been a major issue for England recently, but in fairness to them they haven’t had their first choice XI in the ODI format for a while given they have had two squads on multiple tours. That has been the result of questionable scheduling by the ECB – possibly highlighting the problem with the International calendar too. That being said, if England perform poorly at the Champions Trophy they will still face a tonne of criticism.

From an Indian point of view, there were a lot of positives to take from the opening ODI. Shubman Gill’s know the obvious highlight; they won comfortably and they probably didn’t get out of second gear to be honest. They will want to see Rohit Sharma get a few runs before the Champions Trophy, and Virat Kohli will have to recover from injury to get time in the middle too. It’ll be interesting to see how England can try to bounce back here.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The England tour of India takes us to Cuttack next, and I have to say this tour has had some interesting grounds. Cuttack is very similar to Nagpur in the sense that we haven’t had International cricket here for a while, but this venue has a lot more history. It first hosted Test cricket back in 1987. We haven’t had an ODI here since 2019 however, and you don’t need me to tell you how much the game has moved on since then – England actually played the first ODI here! You’d have to go into this game with an open mind on scoring, but once again I wouldn’t be expecting big runs.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s not a surprise to see India come into this game as the heavy favourites again. They were trading 1.5 to win the opening ODI, and they are in three ticks to 1.47 to win here. I’d actually have them a little shorter to be honest after the opening ODI. As I said above, they never got out of second gear and won very comfortably. I’m keen to keep stakes small before the off here because conditions are definitely unknown heading into this game with such a lack of International cricket here recently. India seem to have all the bases covered for home conditions though, and I can see the England batting struggling again.

The Edge Says:
One point win India to beat England at 1.47 with Betdaq Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

With no strong recent data from the ground, as I said above I would definitely go into this game with an open mind on scoring conditions. With that in mind, it’s hard to form a set in-running strategy. I’d assume we’d have a reasonably tricky wicket to bat on; I actually thought 250 might be in with a shout to defend it in the opening ODI but India chased that exceptionally easily. I think this is definitely a game where you have to react to market moves as they happen given we have so many unknowns.
