MATCH OVERVIEW:
The T20 series continues on Sunday as we move to Paarl. We had an excellent 1st T20 on Friday evening with England chasing down 179/6. It was a fantastic game for trading on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with South Africa trading in the mid 1.1’s before England came storming back. Bairstow was the star for England, but while you could say 86 runs off 48 balls won’t happen every time it’s hard to rule that out when you look at England’s line-up. It’s a case of if Roy and Buttler don’t fire, Baristow and Stokes do. If they don’t as well, Malan and Morgan could – they just have a wealth of batting talent at the moment.
For South Africa they just have to stay focused and keep playing good cricket. They got into a great position, and the market had them 1.15 to win – they have to start closing out those positions. I noted in the preview of the 1st T20 that the bat will dominate the ball in this series and that looks to be the case looking at the bowling. England’s bowling has been leaky in recent times but their batting is so strong it paper’s over those cracks. With South Africa they probably have a little weaker bowling than England, but a lot weaker batting. They need their stars to fire here – de Kock and du Plessis have to play a big innings.
We should have another cracker and it’s not surprising to see the odds haven’t changed much from the 1st T20. I’d expect a similar game, although we’ll have different conditions in Paarl. You’d expect both batting sides to go well against reasonably weak bowling and England to come out on top with their power hitting.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
I could be wrong but I believe this is Boland Park’s first International T20. Please let us know on Twitter if that’s incorrect – I can’t find any records for an International T20 here. We’ve had a few ODI’s but they usually come years apart. This is pretty much an “out ground” that will only get one game per series. They will also have an ODI here though. The last International game was South Africa v Australia in February and South Africa scored 291/7 batting first and then bowling Australia out for 217 to win by 74 runs. With the bowling a little weak, I think we’ll see very similar scores to the first T20; England can chase a reasonably high score too.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Prior to the first game I felt England would go very well on this tour and I haven’t seen anything to change my mind. Indeed, what we saw on Friday would enhance my opinion that England are much the better side. You’d have to say that everything didn’t go to plan on Friday, which is obvious when South Africa trade 1.15 in-running, but they still managed to find a way to win. I think this England batting will dominate the South Africa bowling for the whole tour, and backing England at 1.6+ offers a lot of value.
The Edge Says:
Two points win England to beat South Africa at 1.61 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Much like the first game, I’d expect another excellent game for trading. I would definitely favour getting on the batting side compared to the bowling side though, and as we saw in on Friday that was definitely a good tactic. Of course we have different conditions today as we move grounds, so I would give yourself the first three to five overs to see what batting conditions are like and then go from there.
This England batting line-up is incredible and with the South African bowling a little weak I would definitely support the England middle order to chase down (or set) and pretty high score. Looking at the ODI’s here, it might be better to bat first – but of course they would start at different times so I wouldn’t read too much into that. My main focus here is to support the batting team when looking for trades, always leaning towards England winning the match.
