T20 WORLD CUP: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s T20 World Cup huge clash between INDIA v PAKISTAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a huge game on Sunday at the T20 World Cup as India meet Pakistan in Dubai. For some cricket fans, it doesn’t get much bigger than this. These two sides have a long history of rivalry and given the issues with both boards and not playing each other, it only goes to make the games at the World Cup’s even bigger. We’re bound to have a lot of in-running drama on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, and I can’t wait to see how both sides perform.

Pakistan have been very hit-and-miss in the warm-up games, but then again that is them. You really never know what you’re going to get with Pakistan. That being said, they always tend to show up for the big games, and it doesn’t get much bigger than this. You could see a situation where they beat India today and then lose two or three games against the weaker sides. That actually wouldn’t be a surprise. India come into the tournament in better form in my view, and they have the added bonus of most of their players playing in the IPL in these conditions for the last month. With no Pakistan players allowed in the IPL, you’d have to say that is a slight edge for India.

You just know that for the loser here there will be a massive overreaction back home to the result. The loser will go into the rest of the tournament under immense pressure, and it would be actually interesting to see how India deal with that. You have to say that this Indian side looks very strong however, and conditions will suit them. We should have an excellent game.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

At the IPL, Dubai looked the best ground for batting. Pakistan’s batting looks pretty set, but it’s likely they will opt for an extra seamer over a spinner which would be interesting. India have a lot of questions with their playing XI too given how strong their side is. I would expect a par score to be around 170, but beware that we have saw a lot of low scores during the IPL and in the early stages of this tournament. South Africa scored very low yesterday, but that was in Abu Dhabi. Watch out for dew as that will obviously make bowling tricky, and take a close look at the playing XI’s here after the toss – I feel we’ll get a good wicket, but if you see a lot of spinners then I wouldn’t expect a par score to be 170. It’s tough at the start of the tournament, so I would go into this game with an open mind.

RECOMMENDED BET:

There’s no doubt that India have the best side here, but the 1.54 looks pretty short on them at the moment. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them trade bigger in-running at some stage. This is a game for small stakes as I don’t fully trust this Pakistan side with the bat, however they are worth a small investment at 2.8 or bigger. As I said above, they tend to turn-up in the big games and they will be fully focused for this game. That means less chance of a collapse with the bat, and they have the bowlers to put India under pressure. I expect a close game, with Pakistan the value option.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

It’s still very early days in the tournament, so I would keep stakes relatively low for the time being. We will see better in-running strategies develop as the tournament goes on. I would keep an open mind on conditions here, but I do expect it to be reasonably good for scoring. In such a high pressure game, I would give the side batting first a slight edge. This India side looks very strong, but if Pakistan can get off to a good start with the bat they can be very dangerous – I would definitely look for the momentum if Pakistan are in a great position after 12-14 overs for a big finish. Other than that, I would watch out for dew and if we got a heavy dew I’d be looking for trades on the batting side. I like both sides bowling here, so I wouldn’t be happy on the batting side for long without dew.
