THE EDGE: Preview of the second T20 between West Indies v India with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
After Test and ODI series losses, West Indies are in their favourite format again. They started the T20 Series with a win, and now they have a real chance of a series win as we have the 2nd T20 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this Sunday. You get the feeling that there has been a bit of needle off the pitch too with Hardik Pandya slamming the WICB saying the players “don’t ask for luxury but need basic necessities” after the ODI series. He believed the tour had poor organisation, but we all know conditions in the West Indies can be sub-par.
To be honest, the level of cricket from the West Indies has been sub-par for years now, but the T20 format is their best form of the game. They might have lost a lot of their star names to the T20 franchises around the world, but they still have a lot of talent to offer in the shortest format of the game. India would have been very disappointed to not chase down the 149 in the 1st T20, the wicket was slow and this Indian batting line-up does lack experience at times. The key wicket was Hardik Pandya when India needed 37 off 29 balls – that really turned the game around.
India obviously come into this game as the big favourites, but West Indies have a lot to offer and you’d expect reasonably difficult batting conditions again. We should have another interesting game ahead!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The sides move to Providence Stadium in Guyana for the 2nd T20, and they also play the 3rd T20 here before moving over to the USA for the final two games in the series. As always in the West Indies, we can see an absolutely flat batting track or one with raging turn! We’ve had a range of scores from the Caribbean Premier League here. The last T20 International here was last year, Bangladesh posted 163/5 and the West Indies chased with ten balls to spare. The last T20 India played here was in 2019, chasing down 146/6 from West Indies in the final over.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Although West Indies played with a lot of credit in the 1st T20, they did benefit from tricky conditions. They batted well, and then defended well but India had the game in their hands at times. You just feel a lot has to go right for West Indies to win – whereas you feel how much has to go wrong for India. I feel we’ll have slightly better batting conditions here, especially in the first game and that will benefit India. I’m happy to keep stakes small, but the 1.5 on India looks nice value.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
India’s batting didn’t fire in the 1st T20, but in fairness to them that is quite rare. It isn’t their first choice XI, but it is an exciting one packed with talent. As I said above, I’d expect conditions to suit them more here and the best in-running trading angle here will be supporting India when they bat. I feel it’s a little edge bowling first here, so it might pay to wait until the innings break to get on India.
