Australia v India 2nd Test

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Australia and India are back in action on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as the sides meet in Adelaide for the 2nd Test. This is a Day/Night Test, so we’re sure for plenty of drama! In the few Day/Night Tests we have had here, the ball has done loads under lights and we’ve had some very entertaining cricket. Australia come into this Test under a little pressure too – they were the hot favourites to win the 1st Test at Perth but India absolutely blew away their batting. All the questions in the build-up to this Test have basically been about how Australia deal with Bumrah!

There was quite a long gap between the 1st and 2nd Test; this has allowed India to play a warm-up game, and it’s also allowed Rohit Sharma to join back up with the squad after staying behind for the birth of his child. On what should be another difficult Test for the batters, having Sharma is an obvious boost for India. Australia went into the 1st Test in good form with a very strong XI, but they had no answers as they were bowled out for 104 in their opening innings. That was after they got themselves into a strong position when bowling out India for 150. Australia promised a spicy wicket, but it backfired – it will be interesting to see what wicket is prepared here.

We should have another high quality game of cricket though. Both sides have very strong XI’s; India couldn’t have played any better in the 1st Test to be honest. Obviously they got bowled out for 150 first dig, but conditions were very tough. You get the feeling tactics and how the sides use the time bowling under the lights will decide the game – there really isn’t much between these sides!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Adelaide has always been an exceptionally popular spot for cricket in Australia. It has taken on a new form in recent years as it’s become the go-to ground for Day/Night Tests which is obviously a massive plus for the paying punter. It was mainly a result venue before Day/Night Tests became a thing, but now it’s really turned into a result venue. The last eleven Tests have had a result going back to 2013. There’s actually only been four draws from the last 33 Tests here. It will obviously be interesting to see how quick the wicket here is the success of Bumrah, but I’d expect difficult batting conditions under the lights anyway so this is a Test where the bowlers should be on top – and if they aren’t on top, it won’t be for long!

RECOMMENDED BET:

This looks like a straight shootout between the sides. The draw is trading 15.0 which isn’t quite as high as the 1st Test, but it’s still a very big price – with expected conditions, I just don’t see a draw here, especially given the amount of wickets that might tumble under the lights. Australia are the favourites at 1.92 but I feel India are the value at 2.4. I really feel this is a 50/50 Test, and in my opinion it will likely be won by who plays the conditions the best and also what way the game develops – it’s going to be exceptionally difficult to bat at times; it’s all about who has the advantage of bowling when those times arrive!

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

In the last Ashes Test here, England were bowled out for 236 and 192. That 192 involved an incredible innings from Jos Buttler trying to save the Test; he played over 200 balls and didn’t get to 30 before getting out. I feel with conditions, we’re going to see a low score at some point – the in-running strategy will be focused around getting on the bowling side at the right times in my opinion. You definitely don’t want to be on either batting side under the lights anyway – especially at that time when the lights are just starting to take effect.
