India v Sri Lanka

MATCH OVERVIEW:

India are back in action at the Cricket World Cup on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as they take on Sri Lanka on Thursday. So far everything has gone perfectly for India at this World Cup, they seem to be on an unstoppable run towards winning another World Cup. However, it only takes one bad day when they reach the Semi-Finals and Final. For now it seems we are in a holding pattern until we reach the Semi-Final stage. India look sure to top the table however, although they do meet South Africa after this game.

Sri Lanka had the chance to ask the question of the top four at the start of the week, but a loss to Afghanistan has left them out in the cold again. Only Afghanistan can now catch the top four, and even that is exceptionally unlikely. The only thing left to play for now for Sri Lanka is the Champions Trophy qualification, which the ICC informed everyone of on Sunday. We thought we’d have two weeks of dead rubbers, but suddenly we have some massive games – why couldn’t they have told us before the tournament started!

India have pretty much ticked every box asked of them. You could have said at the innings break against England that their batting finally “failed” as they posted 229/9 at Lucknow. It was only when England came into bat, then odds on to chase, we discovered that was actually a very good score on that wicket – they still won by 100 runs. Not only are they winning, they are hammering sides. The Sri Lankan bowling will face a very stern test here.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’re back at the Wankhede in Mumbai, and so far conditions have been exceptionally good for batting. This ground made all the headlines in the first game here as South Africa hammered England. The England thinktank came out afterwards and said they decided to chase based on the IPL stats here; but as we have discovered cricket in India is very different during the day. The heat in Mumbai has been intense, and you basically have to bat first. Both these sides should be able to deal with the heat easily, but given we had first inning scores of 399/7 and 382/5 I think you have to bat first.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s hard to see past India here. They have been the best team at the World Cup by a distance so far. Obviously thoughts go to the South African game coming up, but they are levels above this Sri Lankan side. Sri Lanka have had their moments, they always do, but their bowling has lacked a killer edge and teams have taken advantage of that. Things might get interesting if they get to bat first, but Pakistan even posted a new record World Cup chase against them earlier in the tournament. At 1.19 you’re not going to get rich backing India, but it’s hard to see past them.

The Edge Says:
Three points win India to beat Sri Lanka at 1.19 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Both sides should be able to handle the daytime conditions in Mumbai, but I still feel it’s a big edge to bat first here. Scoring conditions have looked exceptional, and they generally are in Mumbai. The major difference here compared to the IPL is no dew as the IPL goes so late into the night to help the chasing team. Plus run rate pressure should be massive too. As I said above, if Sri Lanka bat first then we might have a closer game than 1.19 says – the flip side is if India bat I’d expect a 1.01 train. To be honest it’s paid to be against the Sri Lankan bowling so far in this tournament bar a few moments so you’d expect the Indian batters to cash in here.
