Kolkata Knight Riders v Sunrisers Hyderabad
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL returns to Eden Gardens on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Kolkata Knight Riders host Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday! The defending Champions have had a very difficult start to the tournament this season; it’s early days of course but that are sitting bottom of the table with one win from three games. Sunrisers Hyderabad have the exact same record, so they are in desperate need of a win too. They piled on the runs in their opening game to score 286/6 but since then their bowling let them down, then their batting. I have to say the bowling has been smashed around the park so far; they are most certainly under pressure!
KKR started with a poor performance against RCB, then bounced back nicely to beat Rajasthan Royals but then got hammered by Mumbai Indians at the start of the week. You’d have to be worried about them at the moment; Rajasthan have been quite poor thus far – a collapse of 116 is embarrassing at the time but we see collapses like that quite often in T20 cricket these days. The days of “batting it out and getting a score” are gone because sides know that the game is dead anyway if they do that given the quality has gone up so much.
I have to say, we have a fascinating game here. The KKR batting has been below par so far, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling has been woeful at times. It’ll be interesting to see who wins that battle in whichever innings it lands in, and I suspect whoever comes out on top in that battle will win the game.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This is the second game at Eden Gardens this season. We saw KKR post 174/8 in the first game but that looked well short of par with RCB chasing it down with 22 balls to spare. This has become an exceptionally high scoring venue – it’s fair to say we should expect some very good batting conditions here. Obviously at times these two batting line-ups have failed to fire, but the bowling has been loose on both sides to so I would expect a pretty high scoring game – they’ll certainly have the conditions anyway!
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s quite easy to pick holes in both sides here, so the best piece of advice heading into this game is that small stakes are a must. Sunrisers Hyderabad come into the game as the favourites, and I have to say I disagree with that. I feel the value call is KKR at 2.16 – the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling has been a huge negative this season in my opinion and although the KKR batting has failed to fire this season, they are going to have some very good batting conditions here against a weak bowling attack.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With the ease that RCB chased down 174/8, you’d have to say a par score could easily be 200+ here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a score of 200 or more chased down here to be honest; as I said above it’s easy to pick holes in both batting line-ups but at the same time we have a very flat wicket and poor bowling on display. I would focus on looking for trades on either batting side; especially I can see the Hyderabad bowling struggling again and with them coming into the game as the favourites, when they bowl I feel we’ll see the most market movement in that innings. This is a game for small stakes, but the KKR batting can win the battle against the Hyderabad bowling.
