MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Caribbean Premier League coming to crunch time and we have some very important games coming up. We start with Jamaica Tallawahs against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots who were beaten again yesterday. St Kitts are still bottom of the table with only one win from eight games and they won’t be going anywhere near the Playoffs. It’s s different situation for Jamaica however as they fight for the last remaining spot. Trinbago, St Lucia and Guyana look like the top three but Jamaica would dearly love to get into third as they wouldn’t have to play Trinbago in the Playoffs then.

St Kitts were very poor again yesterday although they did have to play Trinbago who have been excellent. It was always painful watching Chris Lynn trying to play spin and he has had a huge issue in this tournament. He was their star man and hasn’t performed. Jamaica have had their issues too, but surely they must see this as a very winnable game. In truth, it’s a must win game for Jamaica – they can’t afford to slip up against St Kitts if they want to make the Playoffs.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We have had weather issues in the early games and we did see rain yesterday. Luckily it wasn’t enough that we lost overs but it’s something to always be aware of with the early games. So far since we’ve returned to the Brian Lara Stadium we’ve had two reasonably big scores from the team batting first in the early game. It must be said however that both those scores came from the Trinbago Knight Riders and they have been the best team in the tournament. Trinbago scored 174/4 against St Kitts yesterday and I would expect that score to come down a little. I would suggest 160-165 would be a tricky chase for these two.

RECOMMENDED BET:

There’s no getting away from the fact that Jamaica have been poor in general thus far in the tournament, but they have been a level above St Kitts. They are worth backing at 1.54 to beat this poor St Kitts side. Jamaica actually put up their best performance in the tournament very recently against St Kitts at the Queen’s Park Oval. They batted slow and steady, putting up a solid base and then launching at the end. They ended 147/6 before bowling out St Kitts for 110. That was a night game too when batting is much more difficult. They can repeat that performance against a poor St Kitts side. At odds of 1.54, this is an excellent bet. One of the best bets of the tournament to date in my opinion.

The Edge Says:
Four points win Jamaica Tallawahs to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at 1.54 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above we have had two reasonably high scores from the team batting first since we returned to the Brian Lara Stadium. With those two scores coming from Trinbago I would expect the first innings score to come down a little. I feel 165 would be a good score.

It’s hard to build a trading strategy that doesn’t make you want to oppose St Kitts. They were very poor with the bat yesterday, and while the Jamaica bowling isn’t as good as the Trinbago line-up you’d want to be against the St Kitts batting. Their stars just haven’t dealt with spin and their squad selection this season has been poor. Russell finished not out on 50 against Trinbago and he looked in good form, against the St Kitts bowlers I would be happy to support him; although wickets are never far away on this wicket.
