THE EDGE: The Edge previews The Hundred game between London Spirit and Trent Rockets with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Hundred continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange as London Spirit host Trent Rockets on Thursday at Lord’s! Trent Rockets are heading into this game hoping to keep their 100% record after starting with two wins against Birmingham Phoenix and Northern Superchargers – it’s still early days but they look to be one of the strongest sides in the tournament again this season. They’ll be confident of getting into that top three and getting a playoff spot. Obviously Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave both look strong too; to be honest we are used to seeing those three sides compete for the playoffs.
It’s been different for London Spirit. They are coming off a rock bottom place last season, and in general they’ve been closer to the bottom than the top since the start of the Hundred. Their batting looks weak again this season, and it already feels like all their eggs are in David Warners basket. He led the way to a Welsh Fire win, but despite getting one run more with a 71 against Manchester Originals that wasn’t enough with the next best batsman on 19. That middle order is going to be a huge issue for basically the whole tournament.
The home side are coming up against a top class bowling unit too. Trent Rockets have generally focused on being solid with the ball and this season looks no difference. They held Birmingham Phoenix to 122/6 and then Northern Superchargers to 124/9. You’d probably say that the Trent Rockets batting is their weak point, but they’ve yet to be fully tested in that department.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
London Spirit collapsed for 80 in the opening game at Lord’s this season, and the home crowd will be hoping they get a better game than that! That was actually the first game of the tournament – talk about starting badly! Obviously David Warner was out early and this London Spirit batting is quite weak outside of him. I would go into this game with an open mind on scoring; we haven’t seen exceptionally high scores at Lord’s in this format.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s hard to see past Trent Rockets here. As I said above, it just feels like it’s a case of David Warner or bust for London Spirit, and that’s not a strong position. I was actually surprised to see Trent Rockets trading as big as 1.78 when I clicked into the market. They have a very strong bowling unit and you can easily make the argument that they come up against the weakest batting unit here. I know David Warner can win the game on his own – he basically did that in London Spirits second game – but if Trent Rockets stop him early, that settles the game in my opinion. Trent Rockets are a confident bet at the odds.
The Edge Says:
Three points win Trent Rockets to beat London Spirit at 1.78 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
In the last London Spirit game, we took on their batting order once David Warner got out and that worked out with a late collapse. You had to wait for a lot of the game and do nothing, but trading is all about picking the right moments. I’d be keen to take on the rest of the batting order again once Warner gets out, especially with this Trent Rockets bowling. As I said above too, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a low score here – and you wouldn’t be surprised to see it defended either if Warner got out early.
