MATCH OVERVIEW:
We’re back in Sydney on Thursday morning at the T20 World Cup on BETDAQ Betting Exchange for a huge clash between Pakistan and South Africa. It’s not often that Indian fans will be cheering for Pakistan, but this is a situation where a Pakistan win would be extremely helpful for India after they lost to South Africa last weekend. To be honest though looking at the quality of teams in the other group, I really don’t think it makes much difference at this stage whether or not if you finish first or second – there are no easy draws. For New Zealand, England or Australia – they will probably more likely want to avoid India!
After the shock loss to Zimbabwe that sent shockwaves around world cricket, Pakistan’s chances of reaching the Semi-Finals are very slim. Not only do they have to win all their games after that but they also had to rely on others losing – that was their tournament going up in smoke right there. Pakistan are Pakistan – there’s no other way to describe them – they have their magic moments and their moments of madness. A collapse is always around the corner, but so is a brilliant bowling display of real pace and class. They won’t change, they will always be unreliable!
The same can’t be said about the South African bowlers. They have actually be very reliable in this tournament and I think it’s fair to say that they have the best bowling attack at the World Cup. It’s no surprise that they top group 2, and they should be three from three bar the bad weather. This should be a tough test for them though, and it will be very interesting to see how their batters deal with the Pakistani bowlers.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’ve had a few days around Australia now, but we’re back in Sydney. Thankfully the weather looks OK, but that doesn’t mean ignore the radar! This is the only game today, so unfortunately we won’t have an early game to get a current read on conditions. I would still expect good batting conditions – the first inning scores here have been 200/3, 205/5, 179/2 and 167/7. The side batting first has won all four games, and I don’t think there’s even a question what to do at the toss here – you have to bat.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Although Pakistan can be brilliant, they can also be woeful. We have seen the two sides to them this tournament already – they were unlucky not to beat India, but threw the game away in the final stages and then we saw the really bad side against Zimbabwe. I know South Africa have a history of blowing up under pressure, but their bowling attack has been superb. They clearly have a lot of talent and if their batters can continue in good form they are going to have a great chance in this tournament. I’m going to keep stakes small here, but it’s South Africa for me at 1.66. Pakistan just have too many issues with their middle order at the moment.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
While it’s shrewd to keep an eye on the radar, I think we should be OK weather wise here. There’s a couple of things to look at here from a trading point of view – the first port of call is it seems batting first is providing a big edge. If South Africa bat first, I would be very confident they will go well – indeed we might see a 1.01 train. However, if Pakistan bat first I would be worried about supporting their middle order, and I wouldn’t want to take on the South African bowlers with the new ball. Hopefully South Africa bat first, as I believe that will make for a cracking trade. It’s still an advantage for Pakistan if they bat first, I would just be less confident.
