Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Big Bash is back and in full flow for another season on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! We have a cracker on Tuesday night as Sydney Thunder clash with Adelaide Strikers. Last season the Thunder were the laughing stock of the Big Bash – they finished rock bottom with just four points, and you could easily say they haven’t put enough effort into recruitment for this season. The positive is they have David Warner for the whole tournament; the negative he is could be in terrible form given he’s retired from Australia now. Adelaide Strikers are remarkably consistent in getting to the playoffs, but their squad looks a little light too.
That being said about Adelaide Strikers; their squad has looked a little light for a few seasons now but they do tend to play well. No Rashid Khan is obviously a huge blow, but they do have Travis Head once he finishes with Australia. Much is always made about the clashes these days around world cricket, and the Big Bash really does suffer from this. Not only do you have the Indian tour of Australia – we also have the South African T20 and the ILT20 from the UAE. There’s a lot of chopping and changing in the squads around players coming and going.
This is the first week of the Bash though, so let’s not get too negative. It was a success last season for Cricket Australia, and they’ll be hoping to build on that. It will be very interesting to see how both of these sides perform!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
One of the major successes of the Big Bash is Cricket Australia moving the games around the country a little. We had two games at Canberra last season, and we have two more fixtures this season before the end of the year. These two sides actually played each other here last season too! Obviously the best advice here is to keep an open mind on scoring conditions; it’s the first week of the tournament and we don’t have a huge volume of data here anyway. Last season we had scores of 151/7 (won) and 140 all out (chased).
RECOMMENDED BET:
I was slightly surprised to see the odds here. I thought we’d see Adelaide Strikers as the favourites to be honest, and I’m happy to back them at 2.04 or bigger to start the season. In my opinion, Sydney Thunder look very short on quality and David Warner will have to do a lot of heavy lifting if they are going to have a successful season. You can quite easily break down the sides in the Big Bash – I’d have Adelaide Strikers a mid-table side and Sydney Thunder closer to the bottom. Maybe not as bad as last season but I can see them struggling again.

One point win Adelaide Strikers to beat Sydney Thunder at 2.04 with https://betdaq.biz/SydStr
IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Given the limited Big Bash cricket at this venue, I wouldn’t go into the game with a set in-running trading strategy. We’ll have to wait and see what the wicket is playing like – I would definitely lean towards taking on both sides middle-order but obviously it’s a shrewd decision to wait until we see how the wicket is playing before fully committing to that position. I would keep stakes small in the first week of the competition – I’d also recommend taking on David Warner for small stakes.
