THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s IPL clash between Delhi Capitals v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s a bottom-of-the-table clash on Tuesday at the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Delhi Capitals clash with Mumbai Indians. It feels like an lifetime ago that these two sides were finishing first and second, battling it out for the IPL title after the playoffs in the Final. In hindsight, it now seems that Delhi had the perfect team for UAE conditions and we all know Mumbai Indians have lost some key players over the last few years. It goes without saying, both sides desperately need a win here.

Both sides sit nailed to the bottom of the table with Delhi Capitals without a win from three games and Mumbai Indians without a win from two. Ironically, they both have different issues. The Mumbai bowling looked absolutely toothless while Delhi Capitals have problems with the bat – especially at the top of the order. That being said, their bowling hasn’t been the best either. They have suffered from South Africa keeping their players to beat the Netherlands in an ODI series which has put them into the next ODI World Cup – barring a miracle series win for Ireland over Bangladesh in May.

Nortje back in the fold for Delhi will be a boost, but they really need David Warner to fire. Mumbai Indians aren’t going to fix their bowling issues overnight, however Rohit Sharma needs to fire at the top of the order and lead the way. It’s been 24 IPL innings since he reached 50 – not only that, in that time his strike rate is only 120. In truth, we have two average sides here looking for a spark from their star players.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’re back in Delhi, and you really want to bowl first here. We saw plenty of pace in the wicket in the opening game. Delhi posted 162/8 and it was chased down in 18/1 overs by Gujarat Titans. Obviously we haven’t had a huge volume of IPL cricket here in recent years because of Covid19, but if we include all T20’s then the chasing side has won 23 of their last 31 games. It’s a no brainer what to do at the toss – however you have to wonder if the bowling attacks are good enough to deliver.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I feel we have two sides here that you cannot be confident on. This is a good game for low stakes, even though it is a very interesting game nonetheless. Both sides clearly have their issues, and as I said above the toss is important here. That could actually be the biggest factor, and I would definitely keep stakes low before seeing who wins the toss. From a value point of view, I’m happy to have a small bet on Delhi at 2.12 because I feel we have two very average sides here and this is a 50/50 game. We’ll likely have decent bowling conditions, but this Mumbai attack has looked very poor so far. Pace in the wicket might see the ball flying over the ropes rather than wickets.

The Edge Says:
One point win Delhi Capitals to beat Mumbai Indians at 2.12 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

With both sides struggling with the bat and ball, it’s not to be confident here! As I said above, the toss will be very important here and I would definitely want to be on the chasing side. However, the best in-running option might be the back them chasing a score rather than relying on their bowling in the first innings. Both sides have struggled with the ball and you wouldn’t want to be on either of them at the moment. Obviously Warner and Sharma are worth plenty of ticks at the top of the order, and they have both been out of touch too so are worth taking on – especially whoever bats first.
