THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s T20 World Cup clash between England v New Zealand with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have another do-or-die game for England on Tuesday morning on BETDAQ Betting Exchange at the T20 World Cup! When you look at the table, you can see how much that loss to Ireland really hurt England. They basically have to win their final two games and even then that might not be enough to reach the Semi-Finals based on net run rate. It would be a real shame if England crash out because they have been hurt badly by the weather. We lost the Australian game, but also Ireland benefited from the rain when beating England. That being said, England wouldn’t have loss if they didn’t bat so poorly so it wasn’t luck, it was just a shame the game was cut short.
England will be expected to win this game and come into this game as favourites, but this New Zealand side is fantastic. They had their game against Afghanistan washed out too, but they hammered Australia in their opening game and beat Sri Lanka impressively last week. They have an excellent bowling attack, and their batting line-up aren’t afraid to attack and take chances. They have some excellent power hitters in the mid-to-low order which always helps and they are definitely a force in this World Cup. They still have a job to do of course, but they have put themselves in an excellent position with their net run rate.
This is going to be a high quality game of cricket. We have two excellent sides here – both have exciting and attacking batting line-ups but where the difference might be is with the bowling. I have to say England have bowled poorly at this World Cup, conceding too many runs to Ireland for example, while the New Zealand bowlers have been on the money. I know it’s been a shame to have bad weather at this World Cup, but it has given us some fascinating situations heading into the final stages of the groups.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
It’s almost hard to believe, but at the moment the forecast for Brisbane on Tuesday is for rain at some stage. England can’t believe their luck – it’s wall-to-wall sunshine in Brisbane every other day this week. England will be hoping to get a game in because if we get a washout, they are out. We had a huge gap in the cricket International calendar here with Covid19, but we did see an International recently with West Indies touring just before the World Cup – of course we have the World Cup games too – but Australia scored 178/7 in that game and I think 180 is a fair refection of par here. This has been a very high scoring ground in the Big Bash, but the average has been reducing in recent years so keep that in mind. I would bat first for run rate pressure given I expect a high score.
RECOMMENDED BET:
As I said above, this should be a top class game of cricket – however we also have major weather worries. I really hope the forecast changes between now and game time, and we get a full 20 over game. It would be a real shame to see the rain interfere again. From a betting point of view, New Zealand are the value bet here at 2.2 or bigger. The New Zealand bowling has been superb at this World Cup so far and they can continue that here – I know England have an excellent batting line-up but New Zealand aren’t far behind in that area. New Zealand basically employed the England “attacking” tactics before England! I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest here, and especially with the rain possibly reducing the overs too – I’d expect to see New Zealand trade odds on at some point, and indeed have a great chance of winning the game.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I think New Zealand will go well here, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them trading odds on at some point. I’m happy to take a position on New Zealand when they are bowling because they have been top class with the ball, however their batters can really take advantage of their average England bowling and that’s where we might see the most movement in the market. It goes without saying that we simply have to keep an eye on the radar here, and any trading opportunities that might arise from the rain hitting at certain times.
