THE EDGE: The Edge previews the India v England 3rd T20 with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
India v England 3rd T20
MATCH OVERVIEW:
India have a chance to wrap up the T20 series against England very early on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as they take a 2-0 lead into Rajkot on Tuesday. England performance better in the 2nd T20 compared to the 1st, there’s no doubt about that, but it’s clear that they still have a big gap to close. It’s been unfortunate for England that no one has stayed with Jos Butler – he’s scored 68 and 45 with only one other batter going past 25 from the two games. With Buttler is superb form, you want to cash in on that but at the moment, he’s not getting any support from the rest of the team.
India look very comfortable, but that’s not a surprise given they have home advantage and an excellent T20 squad. The IPL has given them basically unlimited options in the T20 department – their quality is top notch. From an England point of view, Brydon Carse was a huge positive from the 2nd T20. That was his first International in India, and he batted and bowled very well. England need another angle of attack in the bowling department too – for a while now it’s felt like they are relying on Jofra Archer to do most of the damage. Quite possibly the most worrying thing about the England bowling is they tend to go for a lot of runs even when they take wickets.
From an Indian point of view, they don’t need to change anything. They probably need to create a plan on how to deal with Jos Buttler because once you get him you go a long way to winning the game given how the rest of the side are batting at the moment.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The sides move to Rajkot for the 3rd T20. We haven’t had a huge amount of International cricket here – you could easily say this is the biggest International T20 that this ground has hosted. They hosted India v Australia here in 2013, but cricket has changed a lot since then – they’ve only had five International T20’s here. It’s not a massively used IPL venue either, so I’d go into the game with an open mind on scoring conditions. The last game here in 2023 saw India post 228/5 and beat Sri Lanka by 91 runs and in 2022 India scored 169/6 to beat South Africa by 82 runs.
RECOMMENDED BET:
The India price continues to come in with each game. They started the series at 1.69, went to 1.53 for the 2nd T20 and now they are into 1.47. While there’s no getting away from the fact that India have been well on top in both games, I do feel like there’s a little value on England at 3.05 or bigger. If you got 3.1+ that would be even better. Jos Buttler looks in superb touch, and while he hasn’t got much support, England only need another batter to stay with him and they can finally put this Indian side under a little pressure. England tend to get better as Tours go on, and I’m happy with a small bet on the outsiders here!

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Rajkot is a difficult venue to get right on scoring conditions – it’s hard to go into this game with a set in-running strategy given we don’t have a huge volume of data at this ground. So far the England batting has really be under-performing apart from Jos Buttler. They still have an excellent line-up on paper, so you wouldn’t be surprised to see them jump into life soon. Judging by the limited data here, I would give a slight edge to the side who bats first, and if India batted first you’d have a lot of confidence – obviously if England batter first you’d still have to be cautious given their first two performances!
