MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL continues on Tuesday as Punjab Kings host Chennai Super Kings on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. It’s fair to say that CSK come into this game under pressure – three losses from their opening four games leaves them fighting to avoid bottom spot rather than fighting for the playoff places at the moment. It’s a long tournament, but that is clearly a bad start and much has been made about MS Dhoni looking rusty with the bat. That was always going to be the case in fairness; IPL is pretty much the only cricket he plays these days, and he will find it difficult to shake off the stats about how many balls it takes him to hit a boundary when the younger lads swing from ball one!
It will actually be fascinating to see how things play out if Dhoni continues to really struggle. It feels like he is impossible to “drop” given his status at CSK, but time waits for no man as they say – maybe this is finally the season that time catches up. Punjab Kings will be looking to keep their good start going; two wins from their opening three games gives them a nice position in the table. They were hammered last time out by Rajasthan Royals though; the bowling and the batting failed and it was just a game for forget. That was their first home game; and they’ll be hoping to have better fortune here!
I have to say, the Punjab Kings bowling has been a major worry thus far; even in the two games they won they went for runs. This CSK batting line-up isn’t the best, and it’ll be interesting to see can they take advantage.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This is the second game at Mullanpur, which is the new(ish) home for Punjab Kings. Rajasthan rocked up 205/4 in the opening game and Punjab Kings fell 50 short. As I said above, the Punjab Kings bowling has been a big worry so far this IPL so I would keep an open mind on scoring to be honest. I wouldn’t go into this game just expecting another 200+ score. The scores last season here were 174/9 (chased), 182/9 (won), 147/8 (chased), 192/7 (won) and 142 all out (chased).
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s easy to pick holes in both sides here in my opinion, so keeping stakes small is a must. As I said above, Punjab Kings bowling has been poor but it’s also hard to have confidence in the CSK batting. I have to say, the CSK batting looks like it has a lot of holes on paper this season so their performances haven’t been a surprise. They have focused heavily on spinners but that hasn’t brought results. Punjab are the favourites here at 1.81 but I’d have the market a little more even – just purely because of the Punjab bowling. Definitely a game to keep stakes small though!

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I would go into this game with an open mind on conditions, so I wouldn’t just expect a high scoring game. I feel the game will be won by who comes out on top when the Punjab Kings bowl; whatever innings that takes place in. The CSK batting hasn’t been that good, but in my opinion they are up against quite possibly the worst bowling in the IPL this season so they have the platform to do well. I’d take on the Punjab bowling with small stakes.
