IRELAND v INDIA: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s 2nd T20 between IRELAND v INDIA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
India arrived to Dublin with a bang on Sunday, and they’re back in action at Malahide again on Tuesday. Although we were delayed with the rain, we eventually got a 12 over game and India won comfortably. It wasn’t without some drama in-play on Betdaq Betting Exchange however as Ireland managed 108/4 off their 12 overs – but the reality is once India got going in the chase it was very comfortable. India, despite playing effectively their second XI, looked like a side who had all the T20 confidence in the world fresh off another successful IPL while it was Ireland’s first International game of the summer and the first test against quality opposition for nearly all of Ireland’s players for months.
Since Ireland gained full-member statue from the ICC a number of years ago, that closed off county cricket for Irish players. Without proper training facilities in Ireland this has become a huge issue. To highlight the gulf in class between the sides here, you basically have Indian players who have played against the best players in the world for two months, and then you have the Irish players who have played domestic games against guys who are working in a “normal” job Monday to Friday. Aside from Paul Stirling, no Irish players get much interest from any T20 franchise leagues and probably rightly so because they have been a poor side in T20 for a while.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Cricket Ireland however – this is a very young side and there were a huge number of positive elements for Ireland. Harry Tector hit 64 off 33 balls – a very impressive innings for an Irish batter; usually they don’t attack that much. He is young and could carry the batting. They scored at 9 an over too after Paul Stirling only scored 4, and then Mark Adair bowled well and it was an impressive debut for Conor Olphert who has a lot of pace. There is a huge gulf in class here, and Ireland’s goal will just to be competitive again with India winning in the end.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We had a long delay on Sunday, and there are more showers forecast around Dublin on Tuesday. At the moment, it looks like most of the rain arrives in the morning and because this game isn’t due to start until 4-30pm we should be fine. We might catch a shower or two, but it’s vital that these games go ahead for Cricket Ireland. They need the money, and it was very clear the ground staff were working super-quickly on Sunday. One wonders if they work that quick for the rest of Ireland’s games this summer, however that is the Indian effect! I would expect conditions to be the same, and if the sun pokes through the clouds it should be reasonably good for batting.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I had a small bet on Ireland for the 1st T20 at big odds, and although they were competitive and traded a little shorter in-running, the gulf in class really was very obvious. With less showers (at the moment) forecast for the evening time in Dublin, I wouldn’t be happy being on Ireland this time. The longer the game, the less chance Ireland have in my opinion. Given the batting we saw from India on Sunday too, I would expect a score of close to 200 or over if they bat first and I just can’t see Ireland getting close to that. This is definitely a game for small stakes before the off given the odds, but it’s India at 1.1 for me. It’s hard to see past them to be honest – Sunday was Ireland’s best chance of a shock win and they came up well short.
The Edge Says:
One point win India to beat Ireland at 1.1 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Although I fully expect India to win here, their odds did bounce around a lot in-play on Sunday. We had a 12 over game and with this expected to be a 20 over game, we might not see such quick movement but there are a couple of things to look at here. I would support Stirling at the top of the Irish innings because he will attack, then Tector looked in incredible form on Sunday and I would be happy to support him too. Mark Adair can smash some sixes too if you’re looking for a bounce. In terms of India, their batters are levels above this Irish bowling attack and I would expect them all to do pretty well – there isn’t anyone I’d want to be against to be honest. Conor Olphert impressed me with his pace on Sunday, and he should benefit from the debut experience too, he might take a wicket or two this time around.
